Solo trip across my country? I’ll pass this time.

Dear reader, when I saw this prompt, the first thing that came to my mind was “who wants to travel around this country with a car?” Why a car? Why not through flight or Helicopter to say the least. Solo trip across my country, count be out.

Well, maybe because I am not a big fan of traveling. Well, I love the idea of going to explore and see new places and the fantasies I could get from all of that exploration. I know it’s going to be fun having to drive through from one end of the country to the other.

Did I say it’s going to be fun? Oh well, maybe for those who love to travel. I love to have only the end result of the traveling as long as I don’t have to sit out the process. If there was a way I could appear and disappear to all those beautiful places in the country that this travel would avail me then please let’s do it.

Otherwise, I’d just love to stick with the fantasy that such journey will avail me in my head cos I am not ready to step out of my door to go anywhere. As someone who enjoys the confines of my room and would rather stay in it and view the world from the eye of others, this idea is totally a no no.

Well, I am not that bad of a party pooper but let’s even assume that I want to relish such opportunity, it’s definitely not in this country that I live in. The issue of security in this country right now is a far cry that someone who’s in their right senses wouldn’t even want to dare such a thing.

Safety in the confines of one’s home and environment is a big deal how much more wandering into unknown and uncharted quarters. The cases of kidnap and gun men torment has never been more on the rise than now. People big and small are been kidnapped and huge amount of money asked for as ransoms on their heads from their family members.

Those who are not able to raise such ridiculous sums are at the mercy of death. Both big and small are victims and the appalling thing is that the government is doing nothing about it. How will they, when there’s rumour everywhere that they are the ones sponsoring the wickedness in a bid to raise sums for the coming election.

Well, that’s the country we live in and no one right now will consider these things and still wants to embark on such adventure no matter the amount of pleasure it would bring. At this juncture, I think security outweighs such pleasurable thoughts for those who find pleasure in traveling.

Infact last Christmas, we were categorically warned in my place of work that we should use flight if we must travel and if what you are traveling for is not that important, we should consider not going and if you must go, getting another means of traveling other than road was mostly advised.

Until the situation of security in the country gets better, we might as well stay out at home and enjoys the serenity and beauty of our immediate environment. Safety first before pleasure.
