Almendares Park: A place for everyone / Parque Almendares: Un espacio para todos (eng-esp)

Hello, fellow #travelers from around the world.
Yesterday my stepchildren wanted to go somewhere new and interesting. I thought about taking them to the National Aquarium, but the schedule wasn't the best. So I thought: I'll take them to Almendares Park. Especially considering taking them to play Mini Goof for the first time.

As a lover of travel stories, I know that the journey begins on the road.
Our adventure began when we were on our way to Almendares Park and had to cross the river and bridge of the same name.

Here we learn that the youngest brother is afraid of heights. However, he was very brave and crossed without complaint.

He crossed a bridge over 40 meters high, over the Almendares River.

Well, you can see it here. His face says it all.
However, I explained to him that the important thing isn't not being afraid, but being afraid, facing it, mastering it, and overcoming it, just as he did.

From the bridge, I could see a small part of the park we were going to. That little cabin below was the Perle shotgun range.

The adventure continued with the descent into the park via this staircase, which appears to have been hand-carved from the vegetation.

The staircase seemed hidden from the eyes of those who didn't know it was the entrance to Almendares Park.
It couldn't be seen from the avenue.

Once at the bottom, the park opened up before us. Dozens of children's attractions were arranged around us. But those were for little ones, so we decided to explore the park first before heading to our destination.

We found ice cream parlors, pizzerias, restaurants, and dozens of other attractions for children of all ages. However, we had one goal in mind: to get to mini golf.

This used to be a dining and sports complex called Salsa Río.

Inside, the first thing we find is a pool table, other board games, a bar, a cafeteria, and of course, mini golf.

Then, the highlight of the day: 18 holes of varying difficulty entertained us and made the afternoon.

For my stepchildren, it was quite an event. It was the first time they'd faced such a challenge.
It's one thing to watch it on TV or play it on your phone, but it's quite another to find yourself golf club in hand, trying to hit a small bouncy ball into a hole more than 4 meters away with several obstacles in between.

The revelation of the day was my wife @elviguitarra, who was playing for the first time and seems to have been born with a gift for mini golf ⛳.

Several of the holes recreated different scenes or landscapes like this one, which passed over a fish pond like a bridge.

The vegetation and decor of the place undoubtedly had a unique and beautiful charm.
You could sit back, relax between shifts, and enjoy nature.

The place is ready for nighttime entertainment. Dozens of garlands and lights are strung everywhere, both on the trees and on the posts.

When we thought we were done, the boys wanted to keep the fun going. They remembered the shooting gallery and asked to go shooting.

According to them, they had shot before when they were younger. However, they didn't remember how the rifles worked.

I explained and gave them some basic shooting tips, and it seemed like they'd been doing it for years.

Once the shooting session was over, we decided to head back home. But I didn't want to bring them back the way we entered. Instead, we walked along the riverbank so they could observe this part of the bridge from below.
And thus, from another vantage point (the lower one), they could see the height of this immense bridge.

Years ago, rowboats were rented in this area for river trips.

Years ago, several extreme fire events sponsored by Red Bull were held here under the bridge.

However, none of this would be as beautiful and pleasant as it is if we didn't take into account that this is a park located on the edge of the Havana metropolitan forest.

Nature here is a key element in the ecological and sustainable design of this wonderful place.
A must-see in the capital for all Cubans.

Hola, amigos #viajeros de todo el mundo.
El día de ayer mis hijastros querían ir algún lugar nuevo e interesante. Pensé llevarlos al Acuario Nacional, pero el horario no era el mejor. De modo que pensé: voy a llevarlos al Parque almendares. Sobre todo pensando en llevarlos a jugar mini goof por primera vez.

Como amante de las historias de viajes, sé que el viaje comienza en el camino.
Nuestra aventura comenzó cuando íbamos en camino hacia el parque Almendares y tuvimos que cruzar el río y puente homónimo.

Aquí nos enteramos de que al menor de los hermanos, le asustan las alturas. No obstante, fue todo un valiente y cruzó sin quejarse.

Cruzó por un puente de más de 40 metros de altura, y por encima del río Almendares.

Bueno, aquí pueden verlo. Su cara lo dice todo.
Sin embargo, le expliqué que lo importante no es no tener miedo, sino tenerlo, afrontarlo, dominarlo y vencerlo tal y hizo él.

Desde el puente se podía ver una pequeña parte del parque al que íbamos. Esa cabañita abajo era la sala de tiro con escopeta de perle.

Noten la altura del puente. Eso que está atrás de mí son las copas de los árboles en los bajos del parque.

Y luego verán el tamaño de esta bandera.

La aventura continuó con el descenso hacia el parque por esta escalera, que parece tallada a mano en el medio de la vegetación.

La escalera parecía oculta a los ojos de que no sabe que ahí está la entrada al parque Almendares.
No se ve desde la avenida.

Una vez abajo, se abre el parque delante de nosotros. Decenas de atracciones para niños aparecían dispuestas a nuestro alrededor. Pero aquellas eran para niños pequeños, por los que decidimos salir a explorar el parque primero, antes de dirigirnos a nuestro destino.

Encontramos cremerías, pizzerías, restaurantes y otras decenas de atracciones para niños de todas las edades. Sin embargo, nosotros teníamos un objetivo en mente: llegarnos al mini golf.

Este era un complejo gastronómico y deportivo llamado Salsa Río.

En el interior lo primero que encontramos es mesa de billar, otros juegos de mesa, un bar, una cafetería y por supuesto el mini golf.

Luego, el protagonista del día: 18 hoyos con diferentes grados de complejidad nos entretuvieron e hicieron la tarde.

Para mis hijastros aquello fue todo un acontecimiento. Era la primera vez que se encontraban ante semejante reto.
Una cosa es verlo por televisión o jugarlo en el celular, pero otra bien diferente es encontrarte con el palo de golf en la mano, intentando colar una pequeña pelotica saltarina en un hoyo a más de 4 metros de distancia y con varios obstáculos en el medio.

La revelación del día fue mi esposa @elviguitarra, quien jugaba por primera vez y parece haber nacido con un don para el mini golf ⛳.

Varios de los hoyos recreaban diferentes escenas o paisajes como este, el cual pasaba a modo de puente, sobre un estanque con peces.

La vegetación y la decoración del lugar sin duda alguna tenía un encanto único y hermoso.
Podías sentarte a relajar entre turno y turno y disfrutar de la naturaleza.

El lugar está preparado para funcionar de noche. Decenas de guirnaldas y de luces están colocadas por doquier tanto en los árboles como en los postes.

Cuando creímos haber terminado, los muchachos querían seguir la diversión. Se recordaron de la caseta de tiro y pidieron ir a tirar.

Según ellos, habían disparado con anterioridad cuando eran más pequeños. No obstante, no se acordaban de cómo era que funcionaban los fusiles.

Le expliqué y les dí algunos consejos básicos para disparar, y tal parecía que llevaban años haciéndolo.

Una vez concluido la sesión de disparos, decidimos regresar a la casa. Pero no los quise traer pero por donde mismo entramos, sino que dimos una vuelta por la ribera del río, para que pudieran observar esta parte del puente desde los bajos.
Y de este modo constatar, desde otro punto de vista (el inferior) la altura de este inmenso puente.

Años atrás, en esta zona rentaban botes de remo, para dar paseos por el río.

Años atrás, aquí en los bajos del puente se realizaban varios eventos de los fuegos extremos patrocinados por Red Bull.

Sin embargo, nada de esto fuera tan hermoso y agradable como lo es, si no tomamos en cuenta que este es un parque ubicado en los linderos del bosque de metropolitano de La Habana.

La naturaleza aquí es un elemento clave para el diseño ecológico y sostenible de este maravilloso lugar.
