A Christmas gift / Un regalo de navidad - LOH contest semana #267

Dear @elizabethbit, you've put me in a bit of a bind with your question for this week's community contest.

Friends, I've always been terrible at giving gifts. It's kind of a curse. I prefer to ask the person what they'd like for their birthday, for Christmas, etc., and have them give me a wish list, and then I see which ones I can fulfill.

Another strategy I use is listening. Paying attention to what the person needs and then trying to help or fulfill that need. For example, I know my stepson Diego needs a good pair of headphones. He's a musician and wants to be able to hear his music properly. So now I know what would make him happy for Christmas.

However, if I could give someone a gift and do good... it's both simple and complicated.
A gift that always does good is money. A large sum of money is good for anyone 😁. But that's not the point of the contest question.

So, to answer it, the response would have to be personalized. Who would I give it to and what? Then it seems simpler (at least on the surface).

I already mentioned that Diego would be happy with headphones. I would give him wireless ones, so he doesn't break them.

However, what would really make Carlos, my other stepson, happy is a good cell phone. He spends all day in front of the screen. I would give my wife, @elviguitarra, a concert guitar. That's my dream. They're extremely expensive guitars, but I know it would make her happy, and that makes me happy too.

I would take my mother shopping so she could choose all the shoes she'd like to have.

And me! I would also treat myself to a weekend at an all-inclusive hotel with my family. Why shouldn't I treat myself and do something nice for myself?

And so, I combine everyone's needs with their desires and make them happy by giving them something they need or want.

In this way, we are all happy.

Querida @elizabethbit, me has puesto en un buen aprieto con su pregunta para el concurso de la comunidad de esta semana.
Amigas, siempre he sido pésimo para hacer regalos. Es una especie de maldición. Yo prefiero preguntarle a la persona ¿qué quisieras para tu cumpleaños, para la navidad, etc? Y que me dé una lista de deseos y entonces, ver cuál cumplo.

Otra estrategia que utilizo es escuchar. Estar atento a lo que esa persona necesita y entonces tratar de ayudarla o complacerla con su necesidad. Por ejemplo, ya sé que mi hijastro Diego necesita un par de audífonos buenos. Es músico y desea escuchar bien la música. Así que ya sé qué lo haría feliz en navidad.
Sin embargo, si pudiera hacerle un regalo a alguien y hacer un bien... es tanto sencillo como complicado.
Un regalo que siempre hace un bien, es dinero. Una cifra elevada hace bien a cualquiera 😁. Pero no es la idea de la pregunta del concurso.

Entonces, para responderla, la respuesta tendría que ser personalizada. ¿A quién le regalaría y qué? Entonces se me hace más sencillo (en apariencias).
Ya comenté que a Diego le haría feliz unos audífonos. Se los daría inalámbricos, para que no los rompa.
Sin embargo, a Carlos, mi otro hijastro, lo que le haría muy feliz es un buen celular. Se pasa el día al frente de la pantalla.
A mi esposa, @elviguitarra, le daría una guitarra de concierto. Ese es mi sueño. Son guitarras extremadamente caras, pero sé que la haría feliz y eso me hace feliz también.

A mi madre la llevaría de compras, para que eligiera todos los zapatos que le gustaría tener.
¡Y yo! Yo también me regalaría un fin de semana en hotel todo incluído junto a mi familia. ¿Por qué no habría de regalarme algo y hacerme un bien?

Y así, compagino las necesidades de cada quien, con sus deseos y los hago felices al darle algo que necesitan o que lo desean.
De ese modo, todos somos felices.
