When Magic Turns to Muscle... The Armored Strike Surprise!

Good morning everyone, depending where in the world you are of course but it is a great morning for me, it's the start of the weekend - I woke up early to grind some Splinterlands ranked battles, it was my first day of playing in the new season since it's useless to play on the first day with all max decks that dropped in rating, it's better to wait a while so I played Frontier Mode yesterday which is also fun.

I think that's the great thing about Splinterlands, there are many ways of playing and having fun. With the season that just ended I had a lot of Glint I could spend on my different accounts, deciding what I would do with it and them combining the cards is quite a lot of work!
I think it's great to slowly build our decks and become stronger every season, this time around I was prepared and saved over one million glint I spent in two seasons and now I'm already done with getting my commons up to Silver level! 😊

So, now that I'm done earning my 15 daily wins and get the 18 entries for the Fortune Draw it's time to start typing!

Community Engagement Challenge
This weeks Challenge is to share a battle about something that worked out better than expected or a new strategy that you've found, the crazy thing is I came up with something I never thought about before in my last win I needed to complete my 15 daily goal, perfect timing to start making this post!

The depth in strategy
The cool thing about Splinterlands is the almost endless combinations we can make with our cards, and it's different for everyone depending of what cards we own. Combining certain cards can create crazy powerful synergies to blast away our opponents, but be careful not to spam them over and over because you might get countered!
In the battle I'm sharing for this post I just came up with something new and I don't know why I didn't think of this before because it's not rocket science.. it's just something that I've overlooked because there are so many options.
In our guilds Discord we share strategies that work really well, my guild friend @artofkylin and me both own Elias, and I remember her sharing the powerful synergy between Elias and Thanalorion Scion - giving it Armored Strike in primarily Reversed Speed battles, it works great but the drawback of it is when you put the Scion in the first position it quickly is stripped of it's armor when getting attacked, losing the benefit of Armored Strike.
The solution was so obvious actually, we use the Flank ability all the time to protect Commander Slade so he can do it's massive double damage safely protected behind a card that takes the hits.

When I look at the options in the Water, Life and Neutral splinters it's quite a lot actually, one of them is the great new reward card Coralforged to now have some more flexibility in what I choose.

Sharing a battle

First look at the battlefield:

O well it's a Liquidity Bot, I have a new strategy for that as well, I turn them on at the start of the season, in low Gold they are mostly Silver level just as my own deck so it's a fair fight, the only drawback is they have some of the awesome conflict cards I don't. Later when I go to Gold 1 I turn them off because all of them are Gold level or higher.
My Line-Up:
- Archon: Elias Max Pruitt - reason: Access to Life and Water plus Tactics.
 - First position: Janni Rebel - reason: Flank ability with good HP.
 - Second position: Thanalorion Scion - reason: High amount of armor.
 - Third position: Meriput Magician - reason: Tank Heal.
 - Fourth position: Ujurak Elder - reason: Strengthen to increase healing.

The Battle:
Tactics Stage: Apparently the Liquidity Bot didn't use any tactic, a human player with this line-up would have surely choose to poison my Scion and I would have probably lost the match, getting matched up against Fabino doesn't happen a lot so I still think this is a great strategy, but like with everything every line-up has it's counters...
I choose to give the Armored Strike / Piercing ability to Thanalorion Scion.

Round 1: With that much damage, the enemy tank got killed fast. It's a little sad my opponent brought a Snipe unit so it damages Scion's armor...

Round 2: I expected some missed against Lord Thanalor because of the 4 to 1 speed difference, Armored Strike IS a melee attack but it landed perfectly fine and the Lord is killed fast as well.

Round 3: Janni Rebel made the final kill, winning this very fast battle for me.

It's still early in the season so the rewards aren't as good just yet, still - a lot of drops make a shower so I'll gladly take it!
