5 Small Habits That Have Helped Me Over Time

Over the time, I developed some habits that have helped me in the journey of life. They may look small, but being consistent in them have proven to be of positive addition to me. Of course, everyone is almost fully responsible for the outcome of their life by the choices they make, the actions they take, and the habits they form. Here, I will be sharing 5 of the habits that I have formed that have helped me, and I hope it might also help someone reading this particular post.

The first habit is early morning meditation. For the first few minutes of the day, you should take them out and meditate on something positive. This habit has helped me a lot. Some people will just wake up from the bed and the first thing they will do is to grab their phone by their bedside. When you wake up, take out about 20 minutes to meditate on your life to give yourself a head start. It also helps to reduce anxiety and helps you to focus for the rest of the day. It makes you to stop reacting to what happens, and start leading your day. It may look like a small habit, but it creates mental clarity. More so, it maintains your sanity.

The second habit is to read just about 5-10 pages a day. You may be finding it difficult to read, maybe because of the volume of the book, which can demotivate you. But if you decide to read just as little as 5-10 pages daily, by the end of the year, you would discover that you have read up to 20 books. This will not just help you to gain more knowledge, but it will also help you to improve on your vocabulary, build on your confidence level, and help you to see the world in a better perspective. You do not have to read the entire book at one sitting. Just a little you put will achieve more over time. That is, consistency over intensity.

The third habit that we will look at here is to try to exercise daily. Move your body on a daily basis. In this era, a lot of people are living a sedentary lifestyle, always on their devices, sitting for hours. They do not know the negative effects of sitting at just one spot. Always make it a point of duty to have daily exercise, and your body will thank you. You do not need to go to the gym in order to exercise your body. Just some walk, stretches, and light exercise might even suffice more than going to the gym. Exercise has a way of improving your mood, recharging your energy, and building discipline.

The fourth habit is to practise gratitude and appreciation. At the end of the day, always try to list at least 3 things that you are grateful for. This will help you to understand that you are doing well, and that your day was not wasted. It also trains your mind to see progress and not the lack of it. More so, gratitude improves one's happiness and reduces stress. If you stay grateful, you will realise that you will not have be worried about what is not working, but you will be appreciative of what is working. Gratitude also helps to shift your mindset from what you do not have, and focus more on the things that you have.

The last habit to take a look at here is to do small things daily that will positively impact your future. The little steps you take daily can be what your future will be dependent on. This can include; saving a little money, learning a skill, working a few minutes on a particular goal, building solid friendships, sending an important message, etc. Remember that progress compounds when you do not stop. The habits may not make much sense at the start, but in the future, you will be glad you did.

Note that all these habits are from personal experience. You can still tailor it down to meet your individual need. More so, not all of them may work for you, so do what works for you.

Thanks for reading

Peace on y'all
