What is the best way to optimize a city?

This post isn't by request so I expect some people may not appreciate being told how to optimize their city while others may appreciate the insight.

These are all players that I know and have interacted with during my time on hive.

I am going to suggest a few things to help them better utilize their NFT cards.

Of course, the best way to optimize a city is for profits.

I like to look at newer players cities and try to imagine the best way for them to move forward without spending anything further.

What the funk is dCity?

dCity is a city simulator game based on Hive-Engine Non-Fungible Tokens. The NFTs represent assets in the game. Each individual card is a building, citizen, etc., and the total collection of your cards is your city. dCity allow players to optimize their cities in terms of buildings, population and income.

The aim of the game is to buy new buildings, but also use diplomacy and tact with fellow players to achieve the materials you need to grow and prosper. Obviously, there are several ways you can approach this, but we'll let you learn them on your own and test them out.

This is a numbers game, but with the added randomness of society. There will be events which can have either a positive or negative impact on your city, depending on how your city is built. Choose wisely when helping or refusing to help another player. They might need your help today, but you never know when you might need their help in the future.

welcome to my city!

There are lots of ways to optimize a city

One way is to remove cards that aren't generating a profit in the daily rewards.

For example, in my city I still hold a number of Scientist cards which I can experiment on, list on the marketplace or use in a combine.

I have long since traded up from Scientist education stat to the Research Center education stat so I don't need them but due to their age I don't want to spend the extra SIM on experiments.

The best option for these Scientists is to list them on the market for someone who needs them in a Combine.

This is just one of the ways that I optimize my city for better income.

If holding a card isn't directly beneficial towards daily rewards, then its value could be generating additional SIM Power and daily HIVE drip then better utilized in market bids or in the liquidity pool.

Let's take a look at some examples from other cities!

my friend vaynard86 city in the game dcity

In this city there are a few changes we can make

First of all, we can get rid of the homeless and scientists since they aren't generating a tax refund.

Depending on how old they are it may be worth it to turn them into sick citizens, but I cannot know that information without feedback from @vaynard86

I will assume the homeless is newly born and the scientists and maybe one of the scientist cards are older while a few are newer.

The homeless for sure will need to be experimented on if not sold on the market.

Scientists are usable in several combinations making them more valuable even in the late stages of their life.

Another card that won't be used for a long time unless massive expansion were invested into is the hard worker card which is best sold on the market by smaller cities.

the smallest and most efficient city in this post

Sometimes it is best to sell everything you get

When your city is small and you don't have the capacity for growth then the daily claim on new citizens can actually remove you from the leaderboard and negatively impact your city stats and earnings.

In the case of @fonestreet all he needs to do is sell his daily incoming students on the marketplace.

For the longest time I couldn't onboard fonestreet to the game bc we lacked mobile support, but recent development has made it possible for mobile listings again dcity Web App

Placing a strategic Ask listing or cashing in a Bid listing for that fast SIM will free up the stats in his city to begin claiming daily citizens again and earn him some profit along the way.

Next steps would be to continue selling new citizens and hold SIM for SIM Power daily drip then reinvest a few days per week into growth and sustainability.

this city has a max income over 30 if it were optimized for it

Taking profits is how you ROI

In real life it can be scary to buy and sell assets so it may feel the same way in a simulation, but the value needs to be certain.

Playing the game like an investment without investing a lot of money but instead using time and knowledge to your advantage can create a worthy investment.

This is especially true on hive with dcity considering sim club curation benefits.

For @web-gnar city I would recommend selling the sick citizens and 4 students also the dead citizens.

great deal on the market for the weed dispensary

Consider picking up a weed shop while the price is so nice and look into the long-term benefits of gen 1 population stats from basic home or the cheaper population on barracks.

Selling citizens for these long-term population stats in buildings when they are affordable on the market is one key element to efficient growth.

Every day when you claim your citizen take some time to scan the market before you list yours.

Notice the price trends and build your stack of SIM to be ready for dips in the market Ask or strategic Bids where you need the most growth.

Swap.Hive/SIM Liquidity Pool has a 9% APR!

If you are feeling like snagging all the extra coins you can then consider throwing your bag into the liquidity pool for another cool 9% APR.

Liquidity Pool holdings still count towards SIM Power so you can stack rewards and still have the opportunity to withdraw from the liquidity pool if you see a good market option.

Conclusion

Dont think that just because this is a passive income game that you can just sit idly by and expect perfect passive income results forever.

Take my advice or dont haha hope you enjoyed reading and learned something XP
