What's My Definition of Good Music:- Afri-InLeo Initiative 54
One of the greatest gift that is given to us in life is music. It is that language that connect people around the world. Music is that force that can compel people to either dance, cry, smile or change someone's mood.
I defined a good music base on two key elements, the meaningful lyrics of a song and the beautiful melody, harmony and sound of the song. When those essential elements comes together perfectly, music becomes not just an entertainment to me.
I believe that a good music should be able to pass a meaningful message to me. Good lyrics are the heart and soul of a good music. The lyrics pass the message of the song and most people tell stories, express their emotions, belief, thought or even personal experience through the lyrics of their song.
A song is not just define by the words that rhythm with the beat but how it connects to me or any listener on a personal ground.
Words alone are not just enough in a music but the message the music passed or delivered to me or whoever is listening.
A good music should make me feel as if the person or artist singing is speaking to me directly. The words should make me think or feel something real. Some songs stay with me because the lyrics of the song mean something to me.
Aside from the lyrics that carries the message of the song, the melody, harmony and sound of the music bring the song to life. The melody of the music makes it more meaningful and unforgettable.
A good melody stays in my mind even when the music stops playing, that's why I find myself replaying or singing any music in my thought even when I'm not playing it physically, I hum and remember the song easily. The way the notes, instruments come together adds pleasure to the song.
I believe that even without lyrics or words, instrumental music can tell a story or pass a message through it's melody and harmony. The rise and fall of notes, the tension and release, the way different instruments interact together, all of it can convey message and emotion just as though it's words that was used.
A good music finds its perfect balance when it combines a meaningful lyrics and a good sound. When the words of a song and the melody complement each other, then an unforgettable memorable song is produced.
The true definition of good music is simple, if it pass a meaningful message to me and if the melody, harmony and sound is good then it’s good. No matter the genre, style, or language, music that touches my soul will always be worth listening to.
Good music can be easily identified from its lyrics, because to me, the lyrics of your songs determine whether I will listen to it or not even if the beats and everything else is good and ok
