Holding up. My Actifit Diary: June 17 2026

I can’t really say if it was a good day or not. I got some things on my list done – small things that I had written down so I could easily get something done, keeping myself motivated. Mission accomplished. I got deeper into Buber’s “I and Thou”, while still feeling that I’m scratching the surface. With some philosophers it’s easier to read a translation than the original in German, as the translator already puts some interpretation in there for you, making it easier. But the original? You have to examine every word. And then put it into context with one half of the sentence, and then the other. That’s some work.

I did a little shoveling at the compost here at home, putting it back in shape. It had fallen apart a little, since nobody but me is strategic about it. And it’s only me working it, and if they don’t put any work in it, they don’t care. Doesn’t matter that the whole garden benefits from it, and with that they do, too. And yes, I’m negative.

Tang Soo Do was great. Kami cancelled again last minute, which I didn’t like. She’s in exam week, so it’s understandable, and she’s 15, so she’s not that good at planning yet (worse in the culture here which does not give any focus on planning or complying with one’s word). Still, it bothers me, as I already told her on Monday to let me know earlier. Anyway, I asked her to contact the teacher herself and explain in English. And then I went anyway, because the teacher never checks his phone. And since it was only me, we did a deep dive in the latest form he taught me, and ironed out some small details.

That’s almost all for today. I did meditate. And cry a few times. The meditation yesterday seemed to have broken some resistance, so it’s easier now. Tomorrow is market day – I’ll have to bottle some stuff up during those few hours. But will do!

Indeed it was! But I'm working on it. And today will hopefully good enough to sustain tomorrow. I must say I'm a bit scared of it. It's just a day, but the symbolism is what bothers me.
