My participation in the Phone Photography Contest! - #72: My first summer getaway! [Eng/Esp]
Hey, friends of Feel Good! Even though I'm still on teaching duties, it's a real pain to be the nerdy faculty member at the entire university. Even if I found a suitable time to escape for the weekend and take advantage of the little our mean university authorities have left us, seriously, friends, if it were up to them, they'd leave us stuck working 365 days a year, including Sundays.
So, I decided to go with my family to the Wararira Repano cable car, or as we used to call it: Cerro Ávila. The photo I'm sharing with you is the grand Hotel Humboldt, an architectural icon of the city of Caracas and, of course, a symbol of Caracas's identity. It's located at the top of the hill at over 2,000 meters above sea level. Before, it was almost impossible to get to this hotel because the cable car wasn't operational, but since it's been restored, it's become a major tourist attraction.

I wanted to leave this outing as a daily blog post, but I thought it would be more appropriate to share it as part of my participation in this week's Phone Photography contest #72, mainly because I enjoyed taking that break from work and, best of all, visiting this wonderful place, surrounded by clouds and from which you can see the entire city of Caracas from east to west. Finally, the majestic hotel on the top of the mountain looks like a dream when you see it in person.
And so I conclude my participation in this contest. Believe me, I enjoyed every moment I spent returning to Cerro Ávila; the last time was 8 years ago! And well, since the purpose of this community is precisely to share experiences that make us feel good, it seemed more than appropriate to share this moment with you. Que tal amigos de Feel Good! Aún estoy en actividades docentes es un verdadero fastidio ser la facultad de Nerd en toda la universidad. Aún si encontré un momento apropiado para escaparme el fin de semana y aprovechar lo poco que nos han dejado nuestras mezquinas autoridades universitarias, en serio amigos, si fuera por ellos nos dejarían clavados trabajando los 365 días del año, incluyendo los domingos.
Así decidí ir con Familiares al teleférico del Wararira Repano o como anteriormente lo llamábamos: Cerro Ávila. La foto que te comparto es el gran Hotel Humboldt un ícono arquitectónico de la Ciudad de Caracas y por supuesto de la identidad caraqueña, se encuentra en la Cima del cerro a más de 2000 metros de altura. Antes era casi imposible llegar a este hotel pues el teleférico no estaba operativo pero al ser restaurado se ha convertido en un lugar de gran atracción turística.

Quería dejar esta salida que hice para hacer un blog diario, pero me pareció más adecuado compartirlo como parte de mi participación en el Phone Photography contest #72 de esta semana principalmente porque disfruté echarme esa escapada del trabajo y lo mejor de todo visitar este lugar tan maravilloso, rodeado de nubes y en el que puede observarse toda la ciudad de Caracas desde el este al oeste. Finalizando con la imponencia de este majestuoso Hotel en la cima de la montaña, parece de ensueño cuando estas en persona viéndolo.
Y así termino mi participación en este concurso, créanme disfrute cada momento que pasé regresando al cerro Ávila, la última vez fue hace 8 años! Y bueno, como el propósito de esta comunidad es precisamente compartir aquellas experiencias que nos hagan sentir bien me pareció más que adecuado compartirles este momento. Nos estamos viendo en el próximo concurso de phone photography. Salud y buen destino!

You're right, some jobs have absolutely no work life balance, but despite all that, when you take out time for the family, it is joyful and relaxing for both you and them. This looks like a hilly area, it would be great if you had shared the views from that ride as well.

Wonderful images of the summit of the Avila Hill. I remember visiting that hotel as a child. Taking the cable car up the mountain was a ride with my parents that I will never forget. I wanted to do the same with my children, but they wouldn't let us in the hotel. It is sequestered for a few.

Wow, que sorpresa y casualidad. Justo hace pocos minutos estuve viendo las fotos familiares de nuestra visita al Avila hace poco menos de un mes, y justo me encuentro con este post. Una muy linda sorpresa y que privilegio que simplemente salgas de tu trabajo y puedas ir a un lugar tan lindo. Aunque por lo que leo a pesar de estar tan cerca no lo disfrutas seguido (hace ocho años tu anterior visita 🥹).
Bueno, visitar el Avila estaba en mi lista de cosas que hacer antes de morir y aunque no estoy muriendo ahorita (que yo sepa 😜) mi esposo quiso complacerme, ya que el tenia que ir a la capital a realizar unas gestiones. Estamos bastante lejos (en Maturín) y por lo tanto no es que siempre tuviera fácil la oportunidad de ir, pero fue un sueño hecho realidad. Era una tarde lluviosa y habia mucha niebla, así que espero que esa visita pueda repetirse en un hermoso día soleado🌤️
