Los Filis de Filadelfia se las han arreglado para evitar una brecha más amplia en el liderazgo de los Bravos, dentro de la división este de la liga Nacional. The Lima-born southpaw, raised in the heart of winter ball country, was dealing absolute filth to the plate and kept the peninsular lineup completely locked down. Going 7.0 strong frames, giving up 5 hits, tolerating 2 earned runs (including a solo shot), issuing 2 free passes, and fanning 9 batters, it was a textbook quality start for his resume. Pero Dylan Cease volvió a ser el lanzador estrella que es y permitió solo 4 hits en 5 tramos, ponchando a 7 patirrojos. Desde la ofensiva ¿saben ustedes quien echó una mano?      For the second straight day, we are breaking our own rules to highlight a player on a losing squad. But honestly, it is totally worth it because you’ll never guess who just came off the shelf to spark his team. It is none other than La Victoria’s own Gabriel Arias, the everyday second baseman who actually held down the hot corner last night. He had been parked on the 60-day IL and had not seen a single live pitch since April 6th due to a nagging issue with his left wing. With Brayan Roccio anchored on second base in the top of the seventh, Gabriel drove in the lone run for the Cleveland Guardians, slapping an opposite-field knock to bring the runner home. Even though the ballgame wrapped up 2-1 in favor of the Brewers—who got absolutely zero production from their own Venezuelan connection—it allowed Arias to prove he is fully healthy, giving the Guardians serious hope that his bat can pick up right where it left off before the injury derailed his hot streak.
