Splinterlands: My Recent Card Purchases

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and welcome to my blog! I've been buying cards from the market to upgrade my deck and climb to higher leagues. Part of the fun in playing Splinterlands is seeing my deck grow and improve the more I grind for rewards and use them to strengthen my deck buy buying cards from the market. In this post I'll show the cards I bought and my reasons for buying them.
Ulundin Overseer

Ulundin Overseer is just a common card but very versatile. Being a neutral splinter makes it usable by all. It's a sturdy tank with Flank ability means that you can place another tank beside it for a double tank combo. It's a great strategy if you want to protect your back line.
Abyssal Elemental

The Abyssal Elemental is a primary member in my magic team. I'm running a magic team in the Water splinter led by my Frontier archon who I also upgraded to higher levels. The Abyssal Elemental can play tank because it has the Resurgence ability, being able to resurrect once per battle with all health and armor intact. It also deals melee damage to the enemy upon resurrection. I levelled up my Abyssal Elemental to two where it gained another magic attack.
Kavor Skarn

Kavor Skarn is a dragon archon in the Conclave Arcana set. Being a dragon splinter enables it to use units in all splinters. This is the first archon that I levelled up to four, unlocking the stats and abilities of my levelled up units. Level four archons can summon up level five common, level four rare, level three epic and level two legendary units.
Arcane Skinwalker

Arcane Skinwalker is a neutral card. This means that I can use it in all splinters. I levelled mine to two to get the Shapeshift ability. It's a powerful ability that enables it to benefit from all bloodline tributes of Conclave Arcana archons. I can now use it with my favorite Earth team and it will gain the Execute ability.
Featured Battle

The battle features my new level four Kavor Skarn. I have a level four Commander Slade and level three Night Reaper who were able to unlock a new ability because of the upgraded archon. This battle had the Earthquake ruleset so I had a couple of flying units in the team. The rest like Mystic Scaleweaver were strong damage dealers to eliminate the enemy team quickly. My team depends on Night Reaper who is strong in Earthquake ruleset because of its Flying and Wing break abilities. I was wary of the enemy having a Wing break ability of his own so I had Aerial Shieldmaiden act as a decoy and draw attacks away from Night Reaper.
The enemy team chose a magic unit led by the Frontier archon. He had an Ulundin Overseer in the tank position. Since it had no attack, it was flanked by a unit with Weapons training, Daarg Deadblast who gave it a magic attack. He also had strong magic units Shock Trooper and Mystic Scaleweaver in his team. This is similar to a magic team I usually field in battles with Ulundin Overseer as tank. However, since the ruleset includes Earthquake, I chose Dragon instead with Night Reaper as my key card. We are equal in terms of damage dealers but not having flyers was a disadvantage to my enemy. I won the battle after a few rounds.
Final Thoughts
Upgrading cards is a fun way to have some progression in my game. It unlocks stats and new abilities making my units more powerful thus allowing me new strategies in battles. It also motivates me to grind and earn in game rewards that I use to buy cards. It's part of the fun in playing Splinterlands. I started in Bronze and worked my way to promotion to higher leagues by upgrading my cards. There are still more cards I plan to upgrade and I'll be doing it for the following months.
