It's been a while, is splinterlands still the same? / Starting again??

Good evening buzzers!

Recently, I was asking for new game recommendations on Hive. Someone mentioned Arcade Colony, so I had a little nosey and was reminded of Splinterlands! (PS, still looking for 'all' Hive games to add to our Gamefolio on slothbuzz.com)

image.png

I used to play Splinterlands, many moons ago. I lost my account, refound it some years later, then transferred all my cards to the alt I was using after losing my main. Or something rather confusing like that! Typical sloth with buzzy brain behaviour to be honest! Is Splinterlands still the same game? What's changed, what's new? Let's take a fresh look at Splinterlands, Hive's biggest game, and probably the reason most of you are on Hive!

So, is anything new? Let's start from the beginning!

I mean, first off, I'm drawn to little red circles! Interestingly, someone has invited me to a guild. I guess being on Hive for many years has some benefits!

image.png

Did Splinterlands always have those little notifications? Who knows, I know I can't remember! I have a feeling there's going to be a lot of that throughout this post! Onwards...what's new? a Tutorial? Book 1 - Waur Medge Academy.

image.png

Let's head off to the academy, although there's already a warning that this won't be plain sailing. I guess we need to face these challenges if we truly want to become a champion! What do we have in store?

image.png

A BATTLE?!??! OMG! We have only one card in our hand? Can we achieve victory from the jaws of defeat? Let's see!

Oh wow! There's even cool cutscenes! Let's hope we don't fizzle a bit too much! I don't want to face that dragon!

image.png

Hehe, the lazy old codger set our first task, to move a tree! Love it! But, just when we've moved it 30 minutes later, he got spooked and made off with Fizziebit's card! oh no!! Now it's upto me to defeat a DIRE BEAR?!?!? WHATTTT!!!

image.png

It looks like I'll need to play my only card, a Dread Tafarian. I mean, it looks pretty cool! A hefty shield, only 1 damage though, let's select it and jump into battle!

image.png

Thankfully, the Direbear isn't much stronger and has lower health. Let's click through the rest of the tutorial and see if we can overcome it!

image.png

We won!

Hurrar!

I mean, it should have been expected, otherwise our journey would have been over before it even began! Well, on with our journey, let's see if we can find fizzies cards!

image.png

We've earned our first cards and completed the first stage of the Prologue. We're on our way to world domination!

I think I'll leave the post here, though. This could be a fun little mini series of posts if I get the buzz again! Looking forward to getting back into Splinterlands, one slothly step at a time!

Unril next time,
Sloth out!

You know, I played the PEPE game for a while myself, I'll need to go back and check in on my froggies sooner than later!

I used to play, but got a bit frustrated by all the bot players and then the game seemed to get more complicated and they were wanting money for new things like land. I've decided I don't really have the time for it, so I've been selling stuff. It's not worth anything like it was at the peak. I'm sure others will enjoy playing though.

I'm not really a gamer, but Hive does have a few for different types of player. I've lost track of which are still active. The only one I play now is Rising Star and that does not need much of my time.

Yeah I used to enjoy it back when it came out, that was before I really started Hiving. Seems a lot has changed since then, I had another look a few years back but didn't have the time to play properly so ended up using a bot myself.

I have a bunch of assets on my alt, not sure if there's any value to them now, but i might get back into playing it casually. If nothing else, its a good excuse to make some posts, and hive users seem to engage with splinterlands post more than others.

I built up a lot of cards and some are still potentially worth a fair bit if I can find buyers. They are funding my power ups now.

I have started playing few Hive games recently including splinterlands. But honestly, I found it bit difficult and complex.
Pepe Game and Rising stars are much easier and simple games to play.
Good luck with your fresh start on splinterlands. 👍

I guess you just need to take it slow and learn step by step. Splinterlands seems a lot more complex than the last time I played thats for sure!

I tried rising star but got booted out as I always use a VPN lol. Pepe is a nice little casual game too!

Good advise, I think I should take it slow. It's a complex game so I will give it a fair amount of time.

I've been on Hive for years too, though I still haven't gotten into Splinterlands, mostly because it seems like it would require a fair amount of time to learn the best strategies in using the cards, and also the outside investment that is often needed, but it's still on my radar. I don't play many Hive games, or games in general lately, but of those that I do, I'd recommend the Pepe Game and Dungeon Cities. I only started in the last one recently, but I like it so far. I wish you much success and fun in your further exploration of the present iteration of Splinterlands, my slothly friend! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I do rather enjoy card strategy games, so Splinterlands is something I used to enjoy. However, being a sloth, it's easy to run out of time, and gaming, unfortunately, is the first thing to go when you're 'adulting'. I have a little more time, or at least, refocused more time towards Hive and activities, so it's fun to get back in at the 'start' and learn the basics before getting too deep again. Sloth and steady does it.

As do I, and Splinterlands has always fascinated me, but yeah, time, that's the thing indeed. That's excellent to hear, my friend, and that sounds like a superb slothly plan, dipping back in little by little. Have fun with it! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

It's interesting to start the game over. I'm looking forward to the experience it brings. Hopefully I can win some too!

For a long time, I wasn't interested in the game either. There were always new cards and packs that you had to buy for more and more money. The reward cards were bound and couldn't be traded, etc.
But with the foundations, I'm enjoying it more again. The cards can be traded again, and you have the chance to win special cards.
