This Sunday is already Father's Day and, therefore, I made a quick illustration to commemorate and recognize the importance of the father figure within the family environment, especially to thank those who have been an unconditional support to their children, giving themselves completely to them, without further ado, here is the step by step.

The first thing I did was the sketch, here I more or less knew what I wanted to convey in the image, including the figure of the father covering a small figure of a young girl, and the rest, I was solving it on the way. Before detailing the lines better, I arranged the girl, because I felt her face was strange.

Then, I made the lines clean and changed the background color, in order to better appreciate the colors later on.

I finished the figures with a white base color.

Before detailing the colors of the figures, I decided to define a little the background, as I saw a reference on the internet, adding a black tone as a base and in the lower part, a blue and ocher tone, simulating a sand.

Now I came to define first the figure of the father, at the beginning I added the colors for the areas of the skin and the rest of the body, it would be like in a single tone, as if it had no color, but I did not like the way I did the spots, so I painted it again, giving it grayish tones, leaving some areas in white. Then with the help of some blending modes in the brushes, I added great illumination in areas of the face, body and hand, because here I wanted to symbolize those parents who give everything for their children, illuminating their gloom and covering them of all sadness, even if it's all the wear and tear, that's why it doesn't have much color.

Next, I colored the girl, who has a lot of color, illuminating the area of the head and above her, coming out as if from the father's hands, some small stars.

I exported the figures in png and pasted it in the document again, to put it in the lower area, as a reflection of the figures, lowering their opacity.

I applied an effect that I really like to use in my illustrations and that is to add a color along the edges of the lines, in this case I also added it to the stars, it doesn't matter if the spots don't look good, because I add a blur filter to this layer, which gives that feeling of atmospheric light.

From here I would focus on the background, noticing that the blue part is not very well visualized, so I incorporated again a blue stain and with another brush, I mixed it with the rest of the colors.

With a brush, I made the rain effect, but I didn't like it, so, in the ochre tones area I used a brush that gives that wave effect, as if it were water.

Here I remembered that I had another tool to make the rain effect and I added it, where the drops would just not touch the figure of the girl, since the father is covering her.

Finally, and something I do a lot in my work, is to add a texture layer, overlay it and lower its opacity.

This time, I also added a gradient layer, overlayed it and lowered the opacity.

This is the result... (I did it in less than an hour, because I'm sorry I didn't spend much time on it and it could have been better).
