I Thought It Was A Lifetime Deal.

We were just too perfect. Chidubem and I were the definition of true love. I was young. As young as sixteen but I knew better than my elders what love meant. It meant everything to me to the point of traveling across five states to go meet the love of my life when he was at school.

“Chinelo, meet my babe, Bisi,” just as he calls me the short form of my name, Bisi. He introduced me to his sister, Chinelo. That was a mini introduction and I was the happiest girl on earth.
I was a bit scared. I thought Chinelo wasn’t going to like me or warn me to stay away from her brother but she welcomed me to the family.

“Our wife,” that’s the pet name she gave to me immediately her little brother introduced us to each other. I was just a girl who didn’t care about her age but wanted to get married as fast as possible. I’d rather go to Chidubem’s house for holidays instead of my parents and that was how much I loved him.

Each day, our love kept waxing me stronger and got to its peak when he introduced me to his mum.

“How are you my dear?” She asked but I could tell that there was something wrong. Was it just her mood or she didn’t like me for real? I kept guessing but Chidubem told me it was nothing to worry about. Well, as long as my man loves me, every other thing is nothing to worry about.

Everyone knew Chidubem except my family members. Yes, my dad was so strict that I dare not call a man in his presence but if he wasn’t strict, I’d have introduced my man to him at that tender age. I was so little but very much in love.

“Hm, you and this your boyfriend. I wonder how you’ll cope if you guys break up,” this was the last speech I made Zainab say to me. Why would she wish me a breakup? Whereas, it wasn’t even possible. What will cause a breakup between myself and the person I loved most on earth?

I knew by myself that I can never break up with Chidubem. People can be so unpredictable but with the way he loves me, he would never dare to breakup with me also and if we breakup during a fight at night, we makeup in the morning. We wouldn’t even go five hours without talking to each other.

“I can’t dance with another man, babe. It’s just a night party and I’ll get back to the hostel very early in the morning,” I assured him. It was just a birthday party I was invited to and I never planned to dance with any other guy.
At least, I already made a vow that I was never going to breakup with him. It’s not even possible to breakup with the man I love most.

I got to the party in my skimpy sexy dress and sat on one of the couches provided. To save my relationship, I was on two hours video call with Chidubem just to assure him that I wasn’t going to have any romantic touch with another man.

Our video call session ended and I sighted a young man wearing a yellow face cap.
“I must have this guy to myself,” I said. I didn’t know how I forgot my dear Chidubem. The guy was just so cute that I couldn’t take my eyes off him.

Lo and behold, he asked for my permission to dance with me. Chidubem’s lovely calls became irritating. I ignored his calls and changed his name from Romeo to Mr Chi. I didn’t want my new guy, Eniola to notice that I had a boyfriend. I knew I was in lust but didn’t care. I wanted it and in anyway, I must get it.
At last, we linked up on two more dates and the love story began. The impossible has happened. How come I broke up with the love of my life without having a pinch of it?

I couldn’t even tell my friends that the impossible had happened and the fault came from me despite of how sure I was about sticking with him till forever. Sadly, my love life with Eniola didn’t last three months. Eniola wasn’t the man I thought he was. He broke my heart but shame couldn’t make me go back to the love of my life.

We still talk but I hope he finds a chance to forgive me wholeheartedly for cutting short our love life.
