HBD Interest Rate Cut To Fourteen Percent

Recently there has been a fair amount of concern out there about the HBD peg being somewhat unstable. To be fair, it is concerning to see the instability in the HBD value. I know many of us, myself included, have been hoping for a cut in the HBD rate to slow down the debt accumulation, and it seems that enough witnesses agree that the rate has dropped to 14%. Is that a drastic cut? No, it's not honestly. But it's a start, and maybe soon we'll see a more dramatic cut.

Recently, the debt accumulated from the HBD surpassed the twenty percent level. That's when the HBD stopped being paid out in posting rewards as a built in mechanism to slow the debt accrual. It doesn't address the HBD from the DHF, however, that's a whole other problem that still needs to be addressed. Once the debt passes thirty percent, HBD will automatically lose it's peg altogether. That would be a mess none of us want to have to witness...

Silver

Moving on to a subject that is doing better than Hive or HBD at the moment, silver! Above you can see a quick snapshot I took with my old phone of some silver that was gifted me a couple years back by @bitcoinman . Above you see three one gram bars of silver and a tiny five grain silver bar as well. Sorry about the background, it's an old mousepad that has seen better days. But the picture was a spur of the moment idea!

When I received them they all were shiny and brilliant, but interestingly the top two have started to pick up some toning. Why are some picking up that bit of oxidation and the others don't? I have no idea... I stuck all three in my drawer and really hadn't thought about them since. Yesterday I happened to take a look and there had been a change. It doesn't change the value at all, but it does make them more interesting to look at!

What are they worth? One gram of silver is worth $2.73 as of the time of writing and the five grains is worth about $0.87. They are worth much more now than when he gave them to me, and I still appreciate the gift. Thanks again!

Silver over the last five days from kitco.com

One troy ounce of silver is running $84.47 as of the time of writing. Although down from the time the Iran conflict started, it has been holding steady. The demand for silver is still outpacing supply by a large amount, and prices are likely to rise slowly over the year in my opinion. They may once again be above $100 in the not too distant future!

Silver isn't just used in jewelry, bars, and coins. It happens to be the best conductor of electricity on the planet and is in high demand by electronics manufacturers. It's absolutely essential to build our smart phones and computers. Not to mention cars and even airplanes... Several governments are also buying up silver as fast as they can for their reserves. All of this will keep silver in demand for a very long time!

If you don't already invest in silver you can start small. Those one gram bars are relatively inexpensive but you do pay a high premium as they are more expensive to produce. I've seem them selling around $9 on eBay at the moment. But it's a good way to start building up your own silver stack that will always have value! Remember that it has been used as money since before recorded human history, and always will be. It's not going anywhere!

That will do it for me today, I hope you enjoyed the post! Please feel free to leave any comments or questions below, and thank you all for all of your support! I really do deeply appreciate it! Have a great weekend everyone, and I hope it's great weather wherever you happen to live!

Yes, indeed, @thebighigg! With the price of silver now, a good way to start is fractional silver!

Great insights! You explained well how HBD stability and silver investment are important. Do you think more people will turn to silver as a safe asset if HBD remains unstable?

They should wahck it down to 10%. Twenty was nice while it lasted, but times like these we need to be smart.

I think it should be down to 5%, but I don't think they're brave enough to go that low. 10% would be a great start!

The Apr has been waffling between 14%-15%, back and forth for about the last 48 hours, and it seems to be messing with my accumulated interest. Numbers aren’t adding up, seems kind of unusual…

It needs to be cut to 5% after the hive price has collapsed over 98% from All Time High. The incentives to park it are ridiculously high for where hive is itself. At least 10% is where we should have been by now. Hive will have a .05 handle for first time ever likely the next week. Followed by .04 upcoming month or two. HBD should be far lower APR at this hive level. APR for holding hive should go up to 5%. They are so far behind the ball (witnesses)

I’m somewhat surprised it is still this high actually.

I'm holding hbd for the long term. I can deal with a lower rate.

Still amazed that silver hit $100, albeit briefly. I was just admiring my four Canadian Maple Leafs that I bought for about $17 each...

Glad to see the HBD rate decline... something has to be done to stop the bleeding around here.

Talk about to little a move!
1% move is far little, I suppose behind the scenes they are gonna move down slowly, but I’d of moved right to 10% first.

Maybe when it cut down again, I will have to change my goal.
for mw it is ok if they cut down again, as long as it could keep its pegg, its useless we hav high APR, but the hbd is worthless isn't it?

Once the debt exceeds 30%, The HBD will automatically lose its link.

Could this happen soon?

Yes very likely in 2026.
