A Nine Day Melee

Nine days, it's been nine days since I last blogged. I know there have been week long stretches that I have been missing, and when Rufus blew his engine in New Mexico many years ago, I was gone for a couple weeks, but nine days, that's more than a bit of a stretch of absence.

And let me tell you, what a roller coaster it was!

The boy graduated last Tuesday, we had family come in to stay with us from out of town, I got my first pedicure, almost against my will, but I endured, and then you know, I got my place ready for a party for 200 people.

And what a party it was! For days I prepped beans and taco fest comestibles, the land, mowed, organized logistics, just went hard, and then Saturday arrived and I walked over five miles just doing my best to be a competent hostess.

All while clad in my my most excellent black cat Hawaiian party shirt 😊

You know what? It was all worth it, even the day spent in bed yesterday because I had a serious health emergency in the wee hours of the morning of the party. I knew that was coming though, you can't push yourself the way that I did and not have some consequences, life is about balance (And I am on the mend, just a bit sore and woozy).

Something that kept flitting through my mind as I wandered around directing folks, getting and receiving hugs, laughing at the kid's antics, and trying to ingest delightful food and drink is that I have a blessed and beautiful life. I haven't quit moving since May 10th, between state shotgun, family visits, the boy's graduation and competitions, and culminating with the grad party, my life has been full to the brim of activity, and what glorious activity it was!

In 29 days my youngest ships out to basic training. I will be moving to the wilderness, and my daughter will be taking over the farm. A huge transition is on the horizon and even though I am more than a bit aware of it in a bit of a skittish about change sort of way, I have to say the biggest feeling I am experiencing right now is excitement. I finished one big amazing race! And now, now I am going on another adventure!

So, as far as what appears on this blog is concerned, there will still be lots of Kat-things, baking, homesteading, gardening, all interspersed with who knows what, because the random just might possibly be the most fun part in the coming months.

YAY!

And as most of the time all of the images in this post were taken on the author's moving just about as slow as she is this morning iPhone.

No such luck I'm afraid, the chaos continued! But some of it was good, got myself a new to me ride!

Hope you are having a wondrous Wednesday!
