A Little about Crypto Airdrops

Just yesterday a friend sent me an Airdrop link from Twitter. I ask him how real is the airdrop he couldn't explain but he hard already joined with his phantom wallet, I told him I don't really know much about crypto, I am still doing deep research about crypto which includes how to identify real airdrops, prior before now I don't believe in airdrop I thought they were all scam but gradually as I joined the Ace presale quest I had to make more research not just on crypto presales like #Ace but also on what is known as free airdrops.

Unfortunately, it wasn't upto an hour my friend called me back to inform me that the airdrop was a scam. He lost the little Solana he already acquired, it was a very painful situation, I advise him to always make researches before joining any airdrop no matter how real it seems to be, some people are experts in scamming people. They create platforms that look so real, it takes extensive effort to know that they are not real.

My research on airdrops

This first strongest thing to know a real airdrop is it's transparency, everything about the airdrop will be transparent, everyone joining the airdrop will understand and see all about the airdrop clearly, and a legitimate airdrop will not just fall from heaven as a new project, it must have a link to a blockchain well known project just like Ace has link with Leo and hive blockchain, the blockchain project will have been existing for a long time, its also important to check users who are already participating in the project, check if they have been in the system for a very long time.
I am doing more research on how to check and verify whitepapers and more identifications to know a legit airdrop.

The airdrop that scammed my friend, the Twitter handle had only 50 Followers and that was a sign that this was not legit or real.

My friend was asked to add his recovery phrase and that was how they accessed his wallet and took his little #sol, ligit airdrop has nothing to do with your recovery phrase or private keys, any airdrop page that requires input of private informations are scam.

I also learned that a real airdrop comes with simple tasks that may have to do with social media activities just like Ace quest, the task are not complicated, any airdrop that has a complicated task might turn out to be a scam.

In summary I have learned a lot about airdrops and I will not join any until I am completely done with my research on how to verify legit airdrops.
