My Secret Santa (2025): Movie Review

If you are looking at something simple, light and kinda cute, then check out My Secret Santa, a light Christmas romance for a relaxing night

When I’m tired and just want to relax my brain, I usually look for light movies, preferably under two hours. Ideally, around 1 hour and 30 minutes, long enough to enjoy, short enough not to fall asleep as a rock on my couch.

A couple of days ago, while browsing what’s new on Netflix, I came across My Secret Santa, a brand new movie.

I didn’t recognize any of the actors, but I noticed two things that immediately caught my attention:
it was labeled as a comedy, and it had the perfect runtime of 1h 30 minutes. That was enough for me to press play, plus I wanted to give those unknown (to me at last) actors! I did not bother to check rating in advance, as I did not want to be prejudiced.

Story

Taylor disguises as Santa at a resort to fund her daughter's ski lessons. Working with the charming manager Matthew, she finds holiday cheer and a chance at love amidst challenges.

Taylor is the actress, it is a female name

As per the genre, it is characterized as a comedy, but...

Let me clarify something right away: Its not a comedy.

Yes, there are a few light and funny moments here and there, but this is a romance all the way.

If you’re looking for lol moments, you might be slightly disappointed. If you’re in the mood for something sweet and emotional, then you’re on the right track.

The story has a touch of originality, but it’s important to know what kind of movie this is. It’s a Christmas movie, filled with festive atmosphere and holiday spirit. Christmas is present not only in the setting, but also in the mood and the message.

If you’re someone who dislikes Christmas movies (yes, I know a few people like that), then this one is probably not for you, and dont blame yourself :))

As for the actors, they do a good job. Nothing feels exaggerated or awkward.

They fit their roles well. The costumes, locations, and overall production are decent and appropriate for the scope of the film. This isn’t a blockbuster, but it doesn’t try to be one. It’s an easy and comfortable watch, perfect for a quiet evening.

The protagonist, trying to solve her single-mom-with-a-previous-dream and no-money issues, tries something off limits, to help her daughter go to a snowbard course.

The sceneries are beautiful, I also pay attention to photography and costumes of a movie

I think that this movie could be pleasantly seen from teens up

There’s also a small mystery element woven into the story, which keeps you wondering how everything will unfold. It’s not intense or complicated, but it’s enough to maintain interest and push you to keep watching until the end.

In conclusion, if romantic movies are your style, especially Christmas-themed ones, then I’d recommend giving My Secret Santa a chance.

It has a 5.7/10 rating in imdb, but it is very new, so I would probably check again next year to see how it will change.

My rating would be from 5-5.5 - not more.

If romance isn’t really your thing, you might want to skip it… or maybe just wait for my next movie review!

So, are you into Christmas movies?

Good recommendation for holiday movie fans. Totally agree,if someone isn’t into Christmas stories, this probably won’t change their mind.

So this is pretty much what I go for when brain is fried after work or watch with my wife considering the season and theme of the movie, I havent been watching much content though since I have been focus on a project, but this movie really looks like something that does not require too much attention and keeps things simple enough to just chill with. Netflix tends to throw decent options sometimes without much hype around them and sometimes turn out to be the best that way, 90 minutes is the sweet spot for these kinda watches, got to say the whole secret Santa gig at a ski resort could be fun if they handle it right and it sounds like they did not go overboard with anything which works better than forcing humor that lands flat. The bit about there being a little mystery in there to probably keep you hooked until the end is solid because without that these types can drag and feel like you are just waiting for the predictable finish to roll out and I hope this one dosent.
