What I've Been Watching

I don't watch a lot of TV, but I do browse YouTube once or twice a day, add a few promising looking clips to my watch later list and then watch one or two of them before bed.

Just like last week, I thought today we'd look at and share some of the clips I watched.

All Things Scottish

I probably watched this back in the day, but I didn't remember it. Mike Myers always did great Scottish characters. Here he is funny as usual, but also joined by Christopher Walken. This is great stuff!

Oldholio

Well this is one I didn't expect to see. I knew there was a Bevis and Butthead revival a few years ago, but I didn't really pay attention. They were funny enough back in the day, but not enough for me to seek out the new one.

But for some reason this clip showed up on my recommended list. heh. They are still stupid beyond words, but it is kind of funny seeing them again after all these years.

Mario Galaxy

My kids loved the first movie and they still watch it every few weeks. They much have seen it a hundred times at this point. So of course they are dying to see the new one. When it came up on my feed, I saved it to watch with them.

Actually I watched the Japanese version, but I went and got the English version for this post. It seems odd hearing them in English now... Anyway — looks fun.

Namu Amida Butsu

I shared this guy several years ago on here, in a video when he was chanting the Heart Sutra, which is the most important sutra in Zen Buddhism. That one was just chanting set to a boombox. This oen is more musical number, which is odd to see a Zen monk doing, but the video is well done and the scenery is beautiful.

Fooling Penn & Teller

Finally, this was an unusual, but fun illusion.

Well, which did you like best?

Christpher Walken is a good actor, and is funny as hell too. My favorite to this day is act as Bruce Dickinson in the Cow Bell routine on SNL with Will Ferrell.

If it's not Scottish, it's crap! Classic! My wife and I just finished watching the latest season of Emily in Paris.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never really gone to YouTube to look for films or clips on purpose. I always had this idea that it was mostly low-budget or throwaway stuff. But reading how you talk about these, especially the way you frame them as small, enjoyable discoveries, kind of makes me want to give it a proper chance.

I like that it’s not about “must-watch” content, just things that caught your attention and were fun or interesting in the moment. I’m especially curious about the Zen monk video now, that sounds unexpectedly beautiful.
