Turda - salt mine in Romania
Hi to all travel enthusiasts. In the three days I spent in Romania, I visited several cities. On the way to my final destination, Alba Iulia, I stopped at the Turda Salt Mine. I bought a ticket at the entrance to the mine, but I had to wait for a group because they wouldn't let me go alone. You can also take a guide. I had no idea what was hidden beneath the ground of this building.
They warned us to dress warmly because the temperature was 10 degrees. When I arrived, I was amazed. This is a unique sight and I have never seen anything like this before.View from above.

There used to be sea here, which evaporated and deposited salt on the rocks. The mine was dug by hand in the 11th century. In the mine itself there are corridors, galleries, staircases, mines at different depths. The most interesting are the Rudolf mine and the Theresa mine. We went down narrow and quite slippery and steep stairs. And the salt fell on my neck.
The first mine is 42m deep and I climbed 172 steps and I could have taken the elevator, it has 13 floors. When I went down I saw a large Ferris wheel. During the ride you can enjoy not only the view of the entire amusement park, but also the beauty that was formed on the rocks during the salt extraction process. There is also mini golf, table tennis, billiards, bowling, a children's playground, a souvenir shop. This mine was closed a long time ago and was turned into a tourist attraction 30 years ago.

They sell souvenirs here, but unfortunately they weren't open and I didn't buy anything.

I also went down to the Teresa mine at a depth of 112 meters. There is an underground lake here that is 6 m deep, where you can enjoy a boat ride. It is here that the air is the cleanest because the depth is the greatest. The air is so pleasant, just like when you walk by the sea early in the morning. They say it's great for lung patients. This lake is salty and is compared to the Dead Sea.

Visiting this mine was a wonderful experience, and the knowledge gained, and the appreciation that this mine could meet the needs of the entire planet by extracting salt if it were to reopen.
