The other bicycle of doom- La otra bicicleta de la perdición

The other bicycle of doom
-We're not supposed to carry the bike, we're supposed to ride it!-
The math professor's young girlfriend protested.
She would be turning thirty next Saturday, while he was nearing retirement.
-Aren't you the young one? You're supposed to have more energy than me. Besides, I'm the one carrying the bike.-
The young woman didn't say a word. The cold air of the Huasteca region of Nuevo León had turned her cheeks red, and her soft, white skin showed the small chafing caused by extreme cold on sensitive skin. The professor, on the other hand, was used to these kinds of outings. He was in excellent physical condition and enjoyed every step, savoring the fresh air and the majestic natural scenery.
-I can't stand the creaking of that bike anymore. I think it's time to give it up,-
She said sternly, almost giving him an order.
The professor placed the bike on the side of the road in agreement. He had promised his girlfriend he would support her until she finished her master's degree, but he had already made up his mind.
"You're right, love. We have to know when to let go."
