Solo Leveling- Anime review (ENG-ESP)

This year, 2026, I got off to a strong start in terms of anime, as I came across a production called Solo Leveling, an anime directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, based on the web novel and manhwa by Chugong, illustrated by Dubu. I didn't expect much from this anime, as I thought it would just be something to pass the time, but the reality was quite different. It's an animated series that stands out in many ways, with a compelling story and other aspects that are undoubtedly up to par. It even far exceeded my expectations. Below, I'll give you more details about the anime I mentioned.

The story of the anime Solo Leveling tells us about a modern world where there are hunters who fight against creatures (monsters) that want to destroy humanity. Hunters are divided into categories depending on their rank. That's where Jinwoo comes in, a young man with a very good heart, but ranked E, the weakest in the series. When he dies in a portal, he is abandoned and taken in by a system that turns him into an S-rank hunter with abilities that are unimaginable to others, even those who had abilities that, at least at first, could be compared to the protagonist's, but the reality is that he was on another level. Jinwoo used to see missions as a game, where he could improve his skills, obtain tools and objects, and thus improve with each mission, regardless of its difficulty.

I find this anime quite similar to other anime I've seen, such as SAO, because the anime looks like Jinwoo is in a game, even though his life is in danger. Another anime I find similar to One Punch-Man, because both central characters are almost impossible to defeat, although Jin is a little more human, a more realistic anime, because he does suffer certain damage. Jinwoo represents the idea that even the weakest can become the strongest if they persevere. A protagonist who, through sacrifice, achieved the unthinkable, becoming the best hunter in the animated series and saving humanity on multiple occasions. What I also love about the anime is the fact that Jinwoo always wants to help others; he doesn't just seek power for his own benefit.

Este año 2026 comencé muy fuerte en cuento a los animes se refiere, pues conseguí una producción llamado Solo Leveling, un anime dirigido por Shunsuke Nakashige, Basado en la novela web y manhwa de Chugong, ilustrado por Dubu. Este anime no espere tanto, pues creía que solo me funcionaría para pasar un rato, pero la realidad fue otra. Una serie animada que puede destacar muchos aspectos, una historia que convence y otros apartados que sin lugar a dudas están a la altura, incluso superó ampliamente mis expectativas. A continuación les voy a comentar más detalles del anime ya mencionado.

La historia del anime Solo Leveling nos habla sobre un mundo moderno donde hay cazadores que luchan contra las criaturas (Monstruos) que quería acabar con la humanidad. Los cazadores se dividen en categorías dependiendo su rango. Allí es donde aparece Jinwoo, un joven de muy buen corazón, pero de categoría E, de lo más débil que se encuentra en la serie. Cuando este muere en un portal, es abandonado, es tomando por un sistema que lo convierte en un cazador de rango S, con grandes habilidades que son imaginables para los demás personas, incluso para aquellos que tenían habilidades que al menos al principio se podría comparar con el protagonista, pero la realidad es que este estaba en otro nivel. Jinwoo solía ver las misiones como un juego, donde podía mejorar sus habilidades, obtener herramientas y objetos, con lo cual mejoraba en cada misión, sin importar la dificultad de la misma.

Este anime le encuentro bastante parecido a otros animes que he visto, como SAO, pues el anime se ve como que Jinwoo estuviese en un juego, aunque su vida estaba en peligro. Otro anime que le encuentro semejanza a One Punch-Man, pues ambos personajes centrales son casi imposibles de vencer, aunque Jin es un poco más humano, un anime más realista, pues este recibe ciertos daños. Jinwoo representa la idea de que incluso el más débil puede convertirse en el más fuerte si persevera. Un prota que con sacrificios logró lo impensado, lograr ser el mejor cazador de la serie animada, salvando a la humanidad en múltiples ocasiones. También lo que me encanta del anime es el hecho que Jinwoo siempre quiere ayudar a los demás, no solo busca el poder para sus propios beneficios.

Solo Leveling has had two seasons so far, broadcast by Crunchyroll, and is available in Spanish. A big announcement is expected this year, and personally, I hope it's a third season. Even if it's as good as the two I've seen, I want much more than three episodes. The first season is good. Our protagonist transforms from a weak-looking boy into someone completely different, with a more challenging personality and the aura of a strong hunter. The second season takes a big leap forward, with great episodes featuring spectacular scenes and adrenaline-pumping battles, but with dialog and stories that keep us hooked. This is among the best anime I've seen in recent times, and I hope the plot's conclusion lives up to expectations, as I usually find that great stories are almost always ruined. The first season of the anime consists of twelve episodes, and the second has one more, for a total of thirteen.

The animation for Solo Leveling was done by A-1 Pictures, who did a great job visually. The animation isn't perfect, it has its flaws, but overall I like the character designs, the color palette, how colorful the anime looks, and the effects during the battles. Visually, this anime stands out, or at least I think it's pretty good. Personally, I'm not usually very meticulous when it comes to details. The first season was more faithful to the novel, with fight scenes that were quite fluid, but the second season undoubtedly took a leap in quality, with epic battles, more dynamic fights, better shading, and other details that give the anime a touch of higher quality in the visual sense.

Solo Leveling ha tenido dos temporadas hasta el momento, transmitida por Crunchyroll, está el idioma español. Para este año se espera un gran anuncio que en lo personal quiero que sea una tercera temporada, que incluso de ser tan buena como las dos que he visto, quiero mucho más de tres entregas. La primera temporada es buena, nuestro protagonista pasa de la transformación de ser un chico noche, que se ve débil, a otro totalmente diferente, una personalidad más retadora, con un aura de un cazador fuerte. La segunda temporada da un gran salto, con grandes capítulos, donde hay escenas grandiosas, batallas que nos ponen a mil la adrenalina, pero con diálogos e historias que nos atrapan. Esta está entre los mejores animes que he visto en los últimos tiempos y espero un cierre de la trama que esté a la altura, pues normalmente considero que casi siempre arruinan las grandes historias. La primera temporada del anime consta de doce capítulos y la segunda posee uno más, es decir, trece.

La animación de Solo Leveling estuvo a cargo de A-1 Pictures, haciendo un gran trabajo en lo visual. La animación no es perfecta, tiene sus detalles, pero en general me gustan los diseños de los personajes, la paleta de colores, lo colorido que se ve el anime, los efectos que se ven durante las batallas. Visualmente, este anime destaca o al menos creo que está bastante bien. En lo personal no suele ser muy meticuloso cuando de detalles se trata. La primera temporada se puede decir que fue más fiel a la novela con escenas de peleas que se venía bastante fluidas, pero la segunda temporada sin lugar a dudas dio salto de calidad, con batallas épicas, peleas más dinámicas, mejores sombreados y otros detalles que le dan un toque de más calidad al anime en el sentido visual.

I love the anime's soundtrack, especially the opening theme, as well as the music that accompanies the tense moments and action scenes, which are quite numerous. This anime does not disappoint at all, with a good story that improves as the seasons progress and animation that also increases in quality with each season. Solo Leveling is an animated series that we can't miss. It will undoubtedly provide us with very entertaining moments and a very, very good plot. I eagerly await the third season of the anime and hope it doesn't disappoint me.

La banda sonora del anime me encanta, sobre todo el opening, además de las compasiones para los momentos de tensión y también para las escenas de acción que se puede decir que son bastante. Un anime que no decepciona para nada, una buena historia que mejora al pasar las temporadas, una animación que también sube de calidad con las temporadas. Solo Leveling es una serie animada que no nos podemos perder, sin lugar a dudas nos dará momentos muy entretenidos, con una trama muy, pero muy buena. Con ansias esperaré la tercera temporada del anime, espero que no me decepcione.
