Seras Victoria: Forced to choose an inconceivable fate [Eng/Esp]

Portada Seras Victoria.jpg

Imagine being on the brink of death in a conscious state with no chance of salvation, it would be frustrating wouldn't it? Perhaps for some it would be painful, for others a moment of regret, for some a moment of tranquility or resignation. There are many ways in which one could react to such a moment, but I am sure that the most common is not to want to die, but to want to continue living.

In that situation was Seras Victoria, a police officer who was attacked by a vampire, and when she was ironically rescued by another vampire she was mortally wounded, so much so that she had only one option to stay alive, to become a vampire and abandon her humanity.

I want us to consider for a moment what it means to abandon humanity and become a creature of the night. It's practically leaving your own nature and taking on a completely different one, one where drinking blood is the most appetizing thing, you get supernatural powers, like flying, doing some sort of transformation, having the ability to self-regenerate, not aging and having a sort of “eternal life” to the point of wishing you could die so you could rest. Would you take that option if it was the only one to keep living?

I know this is a complete fantasy, but I like how the author forced the character to do something unthinkable and unnatural as to stop being human. I have always thought that the idea of mangakas is to transmit messages, even teachings, not only to entertain us and make money with the sales of the volumes, but they always go beyond that.

For this reason I love manga and anime, because I can think even in this kind of humanly impossible situations, and enjoy the reflection. In that sense I share my ideas and ask these questions. Now, Seras chose to become Draculina, a real vampire, she abandoned her humanity in order not to die, and started to be part of those who attacked humans...that was her decision.

I found it quite interesting how the mangaka Kota Hirano gave life to this character, I really loved it, plus he gave her a very remarkable spectacular development. Sera gave up her humanity and became a vampire, but she didn't give up her thinking, her integrity remained intact, and her sense of justice was sharpened. In fact she refused to drink blood as all other vampires do, even she did not drink the blood of her master Alucard that would give her great power and freedom.

She only kept herself from the crumbs of her master until, for a unique and necessary circumstance, she took the blood of a person on her deathbed to obtain a transformation and stop being a draculine and become a powerful vampire for the good of mankind.

In addition to that, she knew love, not from Alucard but from a human being, she fought to the death against powerful vampires and prevailed, she was faithful to her master and his ideals. I definitely think that Seras Victoria made the best decision, because as a vampire she had a life that she could not have had as a human, in fact she would have died at the moment of her appearance.

So, I repeat the question, would you give up your humanity to continue living? Share your answer in the comments.

uuuff exquisite review haha, wow I know his story and in various versions because if Hellsing is a classic, to me as such I really liked this character, which I did not like so much was alucard because it really is at another level haha

The cover image is one of the ones I like the most, even though her personality doesn't reflect me much that fury or thirst for battle etc, the image does reflect it, a great character that also in aesthetics I love because I like women like this haha 😍

A situation like Seras Victoria's was complex, I don't know what I would have done in her place, I could say no, but I would be lying and if I said yes, then I would surely regret it haha 😂 leaving your humanity to continue living would be something difficult to decide lightly and analyzing the situation well, Seras was on the verge of a critical situation and that's why she took that drastic decision, things of the moment I guess 👀

Yes, I think that certain circumstances can lead us to make drastic decisions, and well, like you I don't know what I would do haha. Serás was useful even as a vampire but if she had lost her mind she would have wiped out a lot of people. It really is a difficult decision
