(Eng)Vegeta: The glorious King of the Saiyayin / Vegeta: El glorioso Rey de los Saiyayin (Esp)

It's no secret that Vegeta is one of the most beloved and iconic characters in the Dragon Ball universe. When he first appeared he was a complete challenge for our beloved heroes, and for those of us who knew nothing about manga or the internet back then the uncertainty of not knowing how his story would end was a complete reality.

I remember that his fight against Goku was a marvel, and although he was defeated at the end, he proved to be stronger than Kakaroto back then, we can even say that he “won the victory” in that 1 vs. 1 battle. He only didn't kill Goku because of the timely intervention of his friends, but he was definitely superior.

I bring this up because it is the first thing that the late master Akira Toriyama showed us about him. A strong, ruthless, cruel and villainous character. That is how we could perceive him in his first arc. However, Akira had a great development behind him and that is what, in my case, made me fall in love with the character.

Para nadie es un secreto que Vegeta es uno de los personajes más amados e icónicos del universo de Dragón Ball. Cuando apareció por primera vez fue un completo desafío para nuestros queridos héroes, y para quienes no sabíamos nada del manga o internet en aquel entonces la incertidumbre de no saber cómo acabaría su historia era una completa realidad.

Recuerdo que su combate contra Goku fue una maravilla, y aunque fue derrotado al final, el demostró ser más fuerte que Kakaroto en aquel entonces, inclusive podemos decir que “obtuvo la victoria” en esa batalla de 1 contra 1. Solo no mato a Goku por la intervención oportuna de sus amigos, pero en definitiva fue superior.

Traigo esto a acotación, debido a que es lo primero que el difunto maestro Akira Toriyama nos mostro acerca de él. Un personaje fuerte, despiadado, cruel y villano. Asi lo pudimos percibir en su primer arco. Sin embargo Akira tenía un gran desarrollo detrás y eso es lo que, en mi caso, me enamoro del personaje.

I have stated in past occasions through my writings, that the development of the characters is what I like the most in a manga, anime, ova, etc., in fact I consider that it is what brings success and depth to a story, since it allows us to know the characters in a more accurate way.

In my title there is evidently a truth, Vegeta is the king of the saiyayin, being the prince and successor to the throne, he gets it because of the death of his father, the point is that he was never crowned due to the destruction of his race at the hands of Freezer, which leaves him without a people to rule, but the pride of who were the saiyayin inherited it and manifested it on many occasions.

He manifestado en ocasiones pasadas a traves de mis escritos, que el desarrollo de los personajes es lo que más me gusta de un manga, anime, ova, etc., de hecho considero que es lo que trae éxito y profundidad a una historia, ya que nos permite conocer a los personajes de una forma más exacta.

En mi título evidentemente hay una verdad, Vegeta es el rey de los saiyayin, siendo el príncipe y sucesor al trono, lo obtiene a causa de la muerte de su padre, el punto es que nunca fue coronado debido a la destrucción de su raza a manos de Freezer, lo cual lo deja sin un pueblo a quien gobernar, pero el orgullo de quienes eran los saiyayines lo heredo y lo manifestó en muchas ocasiones.

And although this may not seem important to some people, it is what stands out the most about this character, in fact it is what moves him to be who he is, and if we do not understand it we will never understand the reason for his actions, such as allowing himself to be manipulated by the magician babidi in the Majin Bu saga.

I really love the development that Akira did with him, and in this sense, my analysis corresponds to the Vegeta of Dragon Ball Z, Gt and Super I will not take into account because one is not canon and the other although they have declared it as canon, is designed for the crystal generation, so nothing to do with this ridicule of the character.

The climax of this character is seen again in the saga of Majin Bu, where once he fights as a pure Saiyayin full of evil against Goku, but he redeems himself with his sacrifice to fix the damage he caused, and although he does not succeed he earned the respect of Piccolo and I think also of many viewers. As far as I am concerned it is one of the best episodes in the history of the franchise.

Now, to conclude, I want to praise the late mangaka because he gave us a masterpiece with this character. He gave us a wild prince and crowned him as a true king at the end, one who accepted to live mercifully on earth with his family and in the company of all the Z-warriors.

Y aunque esto no pueda parecer importante para algunas personas, es lo que más destaca de este personaje, de hecho es lo que lo mueve a ser quien es, y si no lo entendemos jamás podremos comprender el porqué de sus acciones, como por ejemplo dejarse manipular por el mago babidi en la saga de Majin Bu.

Realmente me encanta el desarrollo que hizo Akira con él, y en este sentido, mi análisis corresponde hasta el Vegeta de Dragón Ball Z, Gt y Súper no lo tomare en cuenta porque uno no es canónico y el otro aunque lo han declarado como canon, es diseñado para la generación de cristal, asi que nada que ver con esa ridiculización del personaje.

El clímax de este personaje lo vemos nuevamente en la saga de Majin Bu, donde una vez lucha como un Saiyayin puro lleno de maldad contra Goku, pero se redime con su sacrificio para arreglar el daño que el mismo causo, y aunque no lo logra se ganó el respeto de Piccolo y pienso que también de muchos televidentes. En lo que a mi concierne es uno de los mejores capítulos en la historia de la franquicia.

Ahora bien, para concluir, quiero alabar al difunto mangaka porque nos entregó una obra maestra con este personaje. Nos dio a un salvaje príncipe y lo corono como un verdadero rey al final, uno que acepto vivir piadosamente en la tierra con su familia y en compañía de todos los guerreros Z.
