I Am #AliveAndThriving Today! || #IAmAliveChallenge || Daily Off-Grid Jungle Journal Entry: Day #1278 - StarLink to the Internet Rescue, and I'm Back in Business! - GaiaYoga Gardens, Lower Puna, Far East Big Island, Hawai'i - Monday, January 26, 2026

I live naked and barefooted, very close to Earth and Nature, in an 18-acre, off-grid, clothing-optional, food-forest intentional community (GaiaYoga Gardens), way out in the jungles of Lower Puna, far East Big Island, Hawai'i, and I have for more than 7 years now. Although there are many challenges, I love my life, and I'm immensely grateful to live where and how I do, on my own terms! I would not want to live any other way! 😁🙏💚⚡💥🔥✴️✳️❇️👣🌱✨🤙

Warm greetings all! 😁🙏💚✨🤙
Well, I'm very happy to report that giving StarLink a try as a replacement for our previous defunct community internet service was accepted by the leadership council yesterday, after strong encouragement from Alex and myself, and that we were able to acquire a StarLink unit in Hilo the same day, which Alex and I spent a couple hours last night setting up and connecting to the rest of our network. So we now have a functional, and quite good, internet connection once again!

There was still a bit of troubleshooting after we got it set up and connected, to make it work with certain components of our network, but as of late last night, everything seems to be working well. There are a few adjustments that we still need to make to the setup and system configuration, to further improve the connection, bandwidth, management efficiency, which Alex and I will do later today. I stayed up until just before 1AM noodling out an ethernet-connection problem on my laptop, and in the end I was successful, and it's been smooth sailing since.

One adjustment to the present setup is to switch the StarLink router into pass-through mode, and to use my ASUS AC5300 router to manage the network, as that will allow me to do so far more easily, and it would also allow me to have a public IP address on my router again, so that Qortal can accept incoming connections, and to be able to run an OpenVPN server from my router once again, so that I'm able to access my router, and our network, from anywhere. I'm a tech geek, what can I say?

We started off with the lowest tier plan, which is half of what we were paying for the previous service, and very thankfully it's at a comparable level. We'll test it out for a month to see how it works for the whole community with practical, day-to-day usage. The highest tier plan is only $20 more than we were paying for the other service, so that might be a possibility too in the near future. One thing that I very much appreciate about StarLink is that it is not as vulnerable to the same kind of attacks, control, or disruptions as cable or mobile-network services, so it fits in quite nicely with our off-grid life out here in the jungle. I also like that Elon doesn't bend at the knee to national and international governmental nonsense.

Now that I have a solid and stable internet connection again, I'm back in business for completing my daily and weekly Hive-Blurt-We Are Alive Tribe tasks in a far more efficient, effective, easy, and rapid manner, so immense gratitude for that indeed. I'm still a bit behind on various personal and community Hive and Blurt tasks, though I should be able to catch up on everything pretty quickly now that it's a much more easeful process. This may sound strange, but I'm actually happy now that our previous internet service failed, because I've wanted to get on StarLink for years, and now I am. I dig that.

Yesterday, Monday, I left the Flow House, after only being able to complete some of my Hive-Blurt-We Are Alive Tribe tasks, due to trying to do so on my phone, by a little after 2:30PM (though I did make a quick appearance at leadership council to voice my perspective on getting StarLink), giving my attention to some photography for my posts first, and then to a few small tasks, one of which was chopping and dumping bad/used coconuts at the upper coco bar, and tidying up the area a bit, as well as giving a little bodywork to Elohi, at his request. I headed to the Flow House just before sunset, with my jar of leftover superfood fire coffee in hand, to see what I could get done on Hive using my phone (sadly, it wasn't much). The connection on my phone was so slow, because I had used my hotspot to keep my Qortal node online one evening, that trying to get through my notifications was arduous, to say the least. Thankfully Bryan arrived from Hilo with the StarLink unit by a bit after 9PM, so I stopped what I was doing to install and set up that, wifi Alex's assistance. We were troubleshooting a few issues on our network for a bit after that, though Alex went to bed by about 11PM, with me staying up and continuing with the troubleshooting until a bit before 1AM, as I mentioned above, which is when I finally went to bed myself. I woke up around 4:30AM, and unable to sleep, I did a litlre asset management, then I made another partially-successful attempt at sleep. I woke up again by just after 7AM, still feeling that I needed quite a bit more sleep, doing some asset management, going to make my superfood fire coffee in the Landing, returning to tie Flow House to finally write and publish my very-late Sunday Weekly Hive Goals and Progress Update, then to begin writing this post. It's now just before 1PM, so it's a wonderful time to wrap this up, so that I may attend to my few other important Hive-Blurt-We Are Alive Tribe tasks, before leaving the Flow House a little later in the afternoon, to focus first on some photography for my posts, and then on community/land work, the most essential of which is making some needed adjustments to our new StarLink system. I deeply appreciate y'all so very much! Until tomorrow's manifestation of these posts! Always forward, onward, upward, and whaleward, ho, together we go!

2026 Life Goals
1.) Do regular integral practices again, alone or with others.
2.) Prepare regular batches of my medicinal teas collected from the land again.
3.) Make my plant nursery, and the gardens, beautiful again.
4.) Begin learning relevant coding/programming languages to more fully contribute to the sovereignty-driven technologies where I am active, like Arch Linux, Hive, Qortal, DeSo, and Bastyon.

All photos were taken with my Motorola G Play 2024 Android Phone.

Thank you all so much who have helped me get to where I am today, and allowing me to share more of the beauty and magic from my life and my world with you, and for your continuous appreciation and support! I am truly deeply grateful! 😁🙏💚✨🤙

Great you are back online bro, will probably end up doing the same getting Starlink.
