When Coffee Becomes Comfort.

Yesterday was one of those days where i just wanted to just sleep, not because i was tired due to anything, Nah!, it was just because i just felt kinda lazy and worn out from not having slept the previous night, and that took a really bad turn, because as i am writing this post now, it is currently as a result of the sleep i had this afternoon too. I guess when the day breaks, it is going to be another round of sleeping through the day again if I dont find something to get myself occupied with.

So a friend of my friends came over to the house because she needed a place to read for her exams. she is currently doing her master's. According to her, when I got talking to her, it is a programme that would run for about a year and some month and she just started the programme and it was currently her first exam, According to her she didnt want to be in her own house because she would get distracted or might evn fall asleep while trying to do so, While I was a bit caught off guard because we have never had an outsider stay over, i just had to adapt to the new human in the house. I guess that's what happens when you are a student, a full-time student at that.

And since others left the house, I was the only one and this girl at home. I moved into the visitor treatment mood. I went into the kitchen to prepare her a very warm coffee because it had started raining, and I saw the tired look on her face. I somehow felt a shift, so i had asked her if she wanted some coffee, and immediately she had said yes, and it moved me to go to the kitchen. I didnt know what her kind of coffee was; maybe she liked it black and strong, or she was into iced coffee. I just didn't ask. I decided to make her my own kind of coffee, which is creamy. You can never go wrong with a creamy kind of coffee with sugar, and this is what I actually made for her, I am someone who believes that adding milk to regular coffe is like a hug in a cup, and it was a kind of day that called for something cozy. I had boiled hot water on my gas cooker, and when I poured some of the hot water into the cup, I went ahead to dilute it with a bit of cooled water because this is how I do take my own coffee. When I placed the mug beside her, she smiled up at me instantly and said, "Thank you".

And after that, I retreated to my room, not because I didn't want to be around her, but because I didn't want to disturb her. I just figured that it was the best thing to do, and sleeping was the perfect excuse for me.

I crashed hard, like really hard. You know those kinds of sleep where you wake up and wonder what day it is? When I opened my eyes, it was already almost 8 pm. The house was so quiet. I walked to the other room and noticed that the girl was sleeping with her book spread around her. It had rained when I slept, but I don't know how long it did, but I felt the weather was very cool outside.

When I went to the kitchen, I found the mug I had used to give her the coffee in the plate rack; she had washed it after finishing the warm goodness. I felt happy because I think, and I know, she enjoyed it.
