Judas' ear (lat. Auricularia auricula-judae) and other beautiful mushrooms from stumps

Hello everyone in my favorite community. A few months ago I got sick and during therapy I learned that Judas' ear fungus could help me.I live near a forest and it is a very easy task for me. I quickly found them, carefully removed them from the tree, I will explain why and along the way I came across many mushrooms growing on the stump that I had not paid attention to before. Namely, I started reading the book "The Secret Life of Trees" by Peter Voleben, a German forestry engineer. The book describes in detail and expertly, not only the phenomenon of symbiosis of forest and mushroom colonies through the network of mycelium, but also all the relationships and occurrences of the overall life in the forest community. I recommend this book to be read by fans of sums and mushrooms, and I am one of them

I picked this mushroom carefully so as not to damage the mycelium and so that I could harvest it again next year or in three months. What we harvest is not the whole mushroom, but only the fruiting body. The real life of a mushroom is in the ground, on a tree or stump and is called the mycelium. If the mycelium is preserved, the mushroom can sprout again in the same place. This is really well explained in the book. The only thing I didn't know was that I could harvest it again on a tree stump. If the mushroom is carefully cut with a knife or gently pulled out without damaging the substrate, the mycelium remains intact.
From the same mycelium, new mushrooms can grow in just a few days or the next season, depending on the species and weather conditions.
In the case of mushrooms that grow in sods (e.g. oyster mushroom, tree stump), it often happens that they sprout on the same stump or place several times a year. This is what I learned and I want to pass it on to you. I often leave a few unpicked mushrooms to reproduce, and now I've learned about another way.I picked enough and headed home, taking a few pictures of the magnificently beautiful mushrooms I had never really noticed before. I know they've always been there, but I simply picked only the edible ones.

Good morning @dragan1957

I'm so sorry to hear about your health problem. I hope you're feeling better now.

What beautiful mushrooms, and lovely photos!

The information you shared was very interesting. Now I understand why mushrooms always grow in the same place.

Have a wonderful afternoon!

What a name, "Judas' ear" 😂😂,
how come this kind of a name for a particular mushroom?.

Hopefully you're better now, take care.

The name "Judah's ear" for the mushroom Auricularia auricula-judae comes from the biblical story of Judas Iscariot, who, after betraying Jesus Christ, hanged himself from a tree (often mentioned as an elderberry) and from whose ear this mushroom allegedly grew, due to its similarity to the shape of the human ear and growth on the trunks of those trees, and became popular in folk medicine and cooking.
