Peace!

Isn't it something we all look for?

We hear about 'peace' in today's day and age more than ever before. After all, we witness wars, hatred, evil spread from coast to coast and all we ever want is to see peace become common place on the planet.

I've got some good news and I've got some bad news in today's #bible911 post....And we'll start with the bad news.

The bad news is, I'm not sure we'll ever see real peace on earth. Sure there will be ceasefires. And if you study bible prophecy you'll know about 'peace and safety' before destruction comes....But I truly believe, earth as we know it will never see real peace.

In fact, I think it'll get worse. Way worse.

But enough of that, let's get to the good news. And it's really really good news!

First, let's take a look at the bible emergency number graphic we've been looking at over the past few weeks. And today we're turning to Matthew 11 verses 25-30. And the topic, you guessed it, is 'seeking peace'.

So....What's the good news?

Jesus is the VERY good news! And he is clearly telling us to find 'inner peace' is to seek Him out, every day.

Let's dive into these powerful few verses in the book of Matthew:

There's some real power in these verses, but for me it's the last three that really hit home....These are quoted a lot in certain circles of Christianity.

The first is the invitation found in verse 28, Christ is bidding us to come to Him. Seek him and find true peace and true rest. He's not saying wait on the world or governments to find the peace we all want. He's saying, go to Him.

Verse 29 is kind of what I like to think of as the solution to the problems we see. Learn of me! Christ says, take HIS yoke and give it to Him.

And finally in verse 30 He cements the claim.....His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

You see, the peace Christ is talking about is not 'world peace'. This world belongs to the devil. If you need any biblical evidence to this, re-read the book of Job a few times and see what Satan did to God's servant. No, the peace Christ is talking about is an individual peace found only in Him.

Far too many times, we look for human agencies to bring peace to the world. How can that ever be possible? Human beings are fallen creatures, that generally have a problem of pride and sin over their shoulders. The human race will never be able to bring lasting peace on earth. Only God can! And that's what these verses show us.

Keep our eyes on Christ. That is where we find and truly witness lasting peace.
