Little Nightmares [Let's Play] - 03 - Sneaking Away

I'm finally playing Little Nightmares, a game I put on my backlog for a long time. It's a horror game that follows a miniature child in what appears to be a factory ship and their struggle to escape the various creatures trying to eat them.

Little Nightmares is a platformer in its core. The child we're playing as is as small as a rat, so everything around us is big. It's common to naviage the area around by sneaking through vents and climbing drawers. The ship's inhabitants are hostile, though... It's implied that when the "adult" on this ship catch us, they eat us.

I love the presentation of the story. The game has no dialogue but uses environmental storytelling and abstract symbolism to let us imagine what's going on and what led to the journey of this yellow child. As I played I didn't know which parts of this game are actual parts of the world, and which are metaphorical.

On the bright side, depsite being labeled as a horror game, it didn't feel like Little Nightmares was a horrific, and it ended up way less scary than I heard... Below you can watch my playthrough of this game:

I remember how extremely frustrating a lot of this game could be because you would almost get away only to get snatched up at the last second kind of like when you were running from the long arms guy and you had to crank open the hatch in the floor. Go too early and the door doesn't open enough, go too late and he catches you.

It was good that this game had such an efficient load time because based on the amount of times that I died I probably would have quit if there was a long load time .
