Social Media Challenge - Swinging Back To Modern

Prelude
Good day to all, hope that you are doing well and battling often in Splinterlands. With the launch of Conclave Arcana, we are now moving into a new era of game play and for sure there will be new strategies to be formed. With the free season of wild format coming to a close, it is time to swing back to modern. And the only way to do so is via boosting up your Conclave Arcana collection by either renting or getting some packs for cards or just buying what you need off the market. No matter what you do, I personally think it will be a fun time in modern right now.

In my last community engagement challenge, I shared about the fire splinter with the dwarf build so today I will follow through with that and share an actual match which is on this setup on my debut week in modern ranked battle.

I like how we are able to use bloodline dominion to navigate same bloodline cards across splinters and having additional dimension to game play. But just for today's match, it is essentially pure fire lineup.

So let's get right into the match.

Selection Analysis
We have all 6 splinters available for selection - Fire, Water, Earth, Life, Death and Dragon. And this is almost like a free for all, I wasn't exactly certain what truly works so I pick Fire to try it out. And I think fire typically do well for reverse speed so let's take a look.

So here is my selection of the lineup. I've chosen to go with Fithe Bloodstone from Dwarf Bloodline. For this summoner it gives additional 2 armour and at the same time allow additional abilities to be given to cards on the same bloodline and for this case, Dwarves. However, I do not have loads of dwarves in my collection yet so I will just see who gets additional for now. For the frontline, I chose Halfling Refugee due to its high health base and also decent attack at a low mana cost with only worry on exhaustion reducing its value. Next in the lineup will be Vicious Giraffe whom is able to strike rom second position. Following which is an opportunity card, Surly Drunk that is designed to pick out stuff that are low in health. On the same page, I put in Forked Tongue Sage to take out non melee cards. 2 dwarves take the last 2 position in the lineup, Asher Cindergrim with its opportunity and it being a magic attacker followed by Portly Cannoneer whom gives inspiration for higher melee attack boost to the lineup. First time trying such a lineup and having the last 2 cards with void to further anchor their sustainability.

On my opponent end, my opponent used Marlai Singriel which is a foundation summoner that is recently released to replace the starter cards and can be obtained via completing the campaign. In terms of tank, it was the same choice as me, Halfling Refugee. Next 2 cards are working in tandem, one is Conclave Artificer which has no attack but it was to be boosted by Daarg Deadblast for weapon training of 2 magic attack which is going to spell a big problem for me. Last one will be Shock Trooper that strikes 4 magic damage. With the summoner going to hit hard with an additional +1 magic, my lineup will e very vulnerable.

This is going to be a very tough matchup in view of how my opponent had setup his lineup which is magic heavy and every single one of it striking hard. Will my new test out lineup for Conclave Arcana survive? Let's see how thing go in the match.

Round by Round Synopsis

Round 1 - Everything went fast and furious especially from the magic output that my opponent can unleash on me. But my lineup also did good work. Both Halfling Refugee fell quickly with my side also losing the Vicious Giraffe. All the 3 and 5 magic attack is so deadly, will my lineup be able to reverse the tide fast enough?

image.png

Round 2 - A little too fast for my liking but all kinds of attack just exchanged between both sides and we are down to a double square off. 2 dwarves vs 2 big guns from my opponent.

Round 3 - The price to pay for having high magic attack was that the zap from Shock Trooper continuously wear out my opponent team if they cannot finish the job. And true enough, when I was able to endure and sustain the barrage, we manage to overturn and win the match.

Battle Summary
I like what I see and this is just using most basic level card that had not been upgraded. I am looking forward to more cards and seeing how within bloodline there will be newer synergies for showcasing a good fight. Conclave Arcana really something good to look out for and definitely more amazing gameplays to come.
