Social Media Challenge - Scoring A Basic Win Against Eternal Tofu
Prelude
Good day to all, hope that all of you are having a good week so far and having many memorable and interesting battles in Splinterlands. People whom follow me closely would have realized I was away for a couple of days. And the reason is that I am in big state of fatigue and even forget to power up during Hive Power Up Day. I guess, I do need catch more rest to recover. Today I will be sharing a match against one of the Archon that I hate to face, Eternal Tofu. Many would be aware of how irritating this card can be especially with the thorns and the additional abilities such as scavenge or triage that it can give its lineup. And knowing how tough to beat this card, beating it always brings me joy like how David defeated Goliath.
Eternal Tofu
This card while being named as Tofu, it definitely feels like Tofu and the based health +2 with thorns and snare really is a pain. And the craziest thing is that, it can be used for both earth and life splinter which gives it so much strength over many lineup. The battle tactics of this card is what makes it a very scary card to face with Triage or even the Holy Protection. Basically during battle tactics selection, whoever using this card can map out how they want this card to give the lineup the best advantage.
And with this, it is always an uphill battle to face this card. And today, I've managed to defeat it. So let's go right into the battle.

Selection Analysis
We have 4 splinters available for selection - Water, Death, Earth and Dragon only. Since it was back to basics, I love to call upon my magic army because I can use the foundation archon to boost their magic attack.
To lead the lineup, I call upon Marlai Singariel which give +1 magic attack to my cards. As magic based cards tend to be a little squishy, I used Halfling Refugee for this match since the side effects of this card getting fatigue will no longer be there, so this is good for us. Next in the lineup is also something that at normal day will cause damage to adjacent card, Runic Skychonk, no more side effect and having decent stats. The next in the lineup is Lunaki Howler which I think is a little poorer than Runic Skychonk without side effects but a little costlier in terms of mana. Next will be Mystic Scaleweaver, due to back to basic, it lost the slow ability but nevertheless still a very strong attacker with good health. Following which is the Saltwater Mage whom lost the sneak but doesn't matter all attacks will flow through the front. And last but not least, the card that benefit most from the ruleset, Shock Trooper whom usually will deal 1 damage to us every turn, no longer has it. An almost full magic lineup is assembled to face my opponent.
Opponent used Eternal Tofu as archon and Lord Thanalor served as the tank for my opponent lineup, this is gonna hit hard. Next will be Thunderhood Nomad which is a small card but also a magic attacker. The next card left me puzzled, why is Thanalorian Blade in the middle of the lineup on back to basics. It will effectively not do anything till it goes to the front. The next card is Bren Palesworn, a very strong card that has double attack and in normal context will be tough to handle. The next is an interesting card, Fizbo the Fabulous. Rarely see such cards in matches, guess I am in for a treat facing such a crazy lineup.
Other than the Thanalorian Blade in an odd position, this is definitely going to be a tough match.
So let's get right on to the round by round synopsis.
Round by Round Synopsis
Round 1 - Beams started flying as the round started with all the magic attackers exchanging blows. Things went really well until Halfling Refugee holding strong till it attacked Lord Thanalor and got itself killed due to thorns. My lineup also successfully take out Lord Thanalor.
Round 2 - With opponent's huge tank out of the way, the magic attacks just keep coming and we managed to clear Thunderhood Nomad and Thanalorian Blade whom killed my Runic Skychonk. Advantage is on my side with my opponent's cards almost cleared off.
Round 3 - The match quickly ended this round after Fizbo was being taken out. The amount of magic attack unleashed onto my opponent was too hard for my opponent to handle even with its additional 2 health given by Eternal Tofu. A really nice win against one of my most hated Archon to face.
Battle Summary
Sometimes at first glance you would have thought that the match would be a tough one, especially it is from something that you have a very poor win rate against. But in fact, there are times where rulesets removes all the advantage from opponent and put it in your favour because you selected the right set of cards to compete and give you a good win that you least expect.
Wrap Up
Thank you all for dropping by the post and walking through with me on the sharing on this match where selecting a right set of cards in a back to basic match can help us win a strong archon that usually we will have difficulty winning against. If you have good strategies on how I can even better my selection, do share with me in the comments.

Congratulations on that win, my friend vaynard86. In Modern, I can beat that Eternal Tofu with Possibillus and a good tank + Coastal Sentry, but in Modern, it's a real nightmare. I'll take note of your strategy. Cheers.
