Selling & Purchasing Splinterland Cards

Cards Are Selling
Recently I been placing some Splinterland cards up for trade. Why do such a thing? Let me count the whys: (1) DEC is currently at the very attractive exchange rate of $0.0006. Splinterlands accepts DEC at the rate of $0.001 per DEC. This means that in terms of USD it is very wise to be stacking DEC right now. (2) To increase ones holdings. If you have a card that in today's market are selling at peak value; a very worthwhile strategy is to trade that card for DEC and then use that DEC to trade for undervalued cards. (3) While DEC is undervalued in terms of USD at the moment so is the Hive Token. With the Hive Token being traded for roughly $0.11 USD the DEC to HIVE conversion is also very tempting. What is Rentmoney doing? As we mentioned we listed some cards for sale and some interested parties snapped them up. Lets take a look at what cards we traded and lets also take a look at the amount of DEC received for them. To do just that we will be using the site known as PeakMonsters to look up the stats. Here is the raw URL: https://peakmonsters.com/.

Card Sales

| Card | USD Value | DEC Value |
|---|---|---|
| Silvershield Knight | $0.231 | 393.058 |
| Silvershield Knight | $0.231 | 393.058 |
| Silvershield Knight | $0.231 | 393.058 |
| Undead Priest | $0.864 | 1493.776 |
| Pirate Archer | $0.888 | 1455.499 |
Card Sale Tally
In total we sold five Splinterland cards for a total value of 4128.449 DEC. At the time of the sales these trades total added up to $2.445 USD. If we were to use the DEC earned from the sales (4128+) to purchase assets directly from the Splinterlands company we would get a value of $4.128 USD. This is because the Splinterlands company accepts DEC as payment at the rate of $1/1000 DEC. Arm yourself with that information and use it wisely. Now that some of our cards sold. Now that we see the total trade value of those cards. What are we to do with that extra DEC? Holding it would be wise. There is certainly lots of room for the trade value of DEC to get closer to its $1.00 peg Splinterlands accepts it at. But that is not what Rentmoney intends on doing. We could trade it for Hive. At current time 4128 DEC will return near 23 Hive in trade. No matter how you dice it that is a nice amount of Hive for 4128 DEC Tokens. But that is not what Rentmoney is going to do. Rentmoney is going to leverage those DEC into more Splinterland cards. Continue reading below to see what what cards and reasons as to why such cards.

Purchasing SPL Cards
When selling/ trading Splinterland cards I sometimes take the following approach. If I sell a common Beta card that I think is near its peak value I like to use those funds to purchase a card within that same set and same rarity. Meaning if I sold a Death Common Beta card then I would use the proceeds to purchase a different Death Common Beta card. This will allow my collection to keep the same Burn Value and Production points it always had and to keep or improve card count. With this in-mind lets take a look at my actions. The first set of cards that I traded away were three cards known as Silvershield Knight. The version of the Silvershield Knight that I sold was the Beta Version. A Common Card; Life Splinter. The card I decided to replace it with is Feral Spirit X6. Total cost of my six Feral Spirit cards was just 566.04 DEC. I doubled my card count/ double my burn rate/ doubled my Productive Points and have some spare DEC to boot.

More Trades Incoming
The fun doesn't stop there. There is still two more traded away cards and I want to do the same process with them. The first being Undead Priest (Beta:Rare:Death:Unit). Looking at the Beta:Rare:Death market I can see the Rare Summoner known as Zintar Mortalis is listed for $0.24 USD. Trading a unit card for a Archon card seems like a good deal to me so that is the one I decided to purchase. The cost of the Zintar Mortalis card in DEC was just 397.09 DEC. It also just happens to be the only level one Zintar Mortalis (Beta) listed for sale. Hold up, we haven't finished yet. We still have one more card that needs a replacement. We also sold a Pirate Archer (Rare/water/unit/rewards card). It is at this time I decided to move away from the above strategy and simply purchase a random card. Not for utility, not for any real reason at all. Well, there is a reason. The reason is strictly to add to my card count and to retain the same amount of Power and Production Points that the Traded away Pirate Archer contains (). The card choice: Naga Assassin, Rare:Dragon:Unit:Rewards Card. I purchased five Naga Assassin cards with each having 10 Power and 9.6 Production each. This gives me a total of 50 Power and 49 Production within the five purchased Naga Assassin cards. The total DEC cost amounted to 181.88 DEC. Some of these cards are so affordable that it feels like I just robbed the place.

The Final Tally
Total number of DEC spent on trades (566.04 + 397.09 + 181.88) equals to 1145.01. Total DEC received from sales equals to 4128.449. This means I added to my card collection with increased numbers in all aspects of the game including burn rates, production points and card count while also still having a total of 2983.439 DEC left for future trades. I also helped to a small degree push up the 24hr sales volume of Splinterland cards. That current sales volume stands at 8,092 total trades that equal to a total of $4,723 USD. That's near $5,000 USD traded between the participants of the Splinterlands ecosystem. Players trading with players, cards and currencies all in and out of players accounts. For Rentmoney those are some decent numbers. No matter how you dice it 8000+ trades is allot of trades. The Splinterlands marketplace is alive and thriving. Now what to do with this remainder DEC? I think I will just let it sit there for now. Thanks for spending your time here at the @rentmoney blog. We hope to see you at our next post. Thanks for the curation.
That zintar mortalis was definitely a steal! I've been mainly looking at the modern cards but after reading this I'll definitely look to the older cards too!
At $0.24 I thought so to.
I picked up a few frontier the other week. Sometimes I go for card count over burn rate.
That's a good strategy to sell and replace with an equal card, so you don't lose anything in terms of power and pp!
Makes it easier to narrow down the choices.
Same rarity and set/ same power and pp.
Great article and congrats on your deals! You should try SPLAT — it’s clearly the ideal bot for your profile 😃

Nice trading action. I am not as sophisticated as Rentmoney. I just buy cards that I think will help me win. I have been buying up out of print cards to max out the ones that I didn't get maxed out while they were active. Some of the older cards are getting pretty rare. I don't mind the price going up. In fact I love that lol I do worry that some cards do not have enough in the market to max them out 😳
Seems as if you got a nice handle on things yourself.
A truth that will happen with every set. Its a race against the mechanics.
Undead Priest is a very useful card in the match
Got to love the OG cards.
Yeah the OG cards are really nice and powerful
It’s smart how you’re using the DEC rates to your advantage. I like how you’re thinking long term and picking up undervalued cards ,that’s a solid move for growing your Splinterlands collection.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.
