I saw the post about the 6th Community Challenge and I knew immediately I was all in. You can reach about the Contest here.

The short version of the contest is to take something from the Splinterlands ecosystem and use AI to reinvent or alter that content. And if you know me and my quest to run AI things locally... It was Game ON baby!

Where Did I Start from?

I knew this could quickly get out of hand so right off the bat I decided to stick to only 2 characters within Splinterlands. I wanted them from 2 different sets, so I picked Chaos Golem and Gramel the Hunger becuase I like the artwork and thought they would be fun to reimagine slightly.

Here are what they currently look like at Level 1. And these 2 images are what I am going to be working from.

Figuring Out How to change their NFT's

I wasn't sure what I wanted to change when I started so I did what I think a lot of people do.. I asked a LLM to just change the image into some other design and after a few responses and edits I had this image.

I really liked this rough draft. But there are a few issues that bothered me...

1. The Card is too thick. I wanted it to be more Pokemon TCG size and not squarish.
2. I did not want anything sticking out from the rectangle card. The current Splinterland cards do this and I hate it. There is the default image but then they overlay the Attack and Stat icons to run past the left and right sides. I think it's ugly and I hate it. So I needed to fix the bottom elongated diamond shape and the red blade sticking up at the top of the card.
3. The proportions are all wrong. I want the character at the top to be the center stage and the stats at the bottom to be 2nd to the artwork.

Creating New NFTs

I decided to tackle each one individually or at least I tried.

Here was my first stab at changing the Hexagon Stats in the bottom.

I didn't really like those hexagons so I created ones:

And here they are added to the image and adding in a cool background to the image.

I like the proportions better with this image. So now let's add more to it and get Gramel The Hunger all finished up!

I present my final remake of the Gramel the Hunger NFT.

But then we need to make a 'back' version of the card so why not add in the Lore to the card and change up the background?

Bonus Media

In my journey to create what I ended up creating, I also had a bunch of other ideas and scrapped plans. It would be a waste to not show you all that stuff as well. So here is just some fun bonus content!

I thought about recreating the battlefield in 3D... but scrapped that idea.

I was even thinking about taking a different seasonal battleground and using that but scrapped that idea as well.
