Happy 6th B-Day/ForkDay HIVE!!!

avatar

I joined HIVE (or, better said, the legacy chain) a bit more than 7 years ago, creating my first account without even knowing about its "core feature"... I came for Splinterlands, but after a few weeks, I realized there is a complete social media world behind this beautiful chain... And when I dive into it, Splinterlands became a "side thing"... And, oh boy, it was a ride...

Only a year after my joining, and a few months of uncertainty and struggles, the HIVE was born! And the way that happened was probably the BEST SHOWCASE of why and for what blockchain tech was so powerful and important! Launching Bitcoin, Satoshi had a vision to give a middle finger to fraudulent banksters, corrupted politicians, and the rigged financial game... Forking out of STEEM, creating a community-driven social media blockchain, HIVE did something similar, reminding the "crypto space" about the original Satoshi IDEA... He said that you can't print more than 21M BTC, and we said the COMMUNITY is priceless!!!

Going back to the "birth of HIVE"... Giving birth wasn't easy at all... Nobody knew what would happen, a lot of low blows, dirty plays, and colluded individuals with huge egos, thinking they can buy anything with money...

So much negativity was around, but when you have that, the natural balance comes into place... When a big enemy arises, those on the other side consolidate! Everyone got united against the common enemy! We had such a good energy to FIGHT until the last day, until we thought we had a chance to win... Unfortunately, the battle for STEEM was lost, and with the lost battle, instead of "winning" the war, STEEM lost its COMMUNITY! The most valuable thing!

There was no sense in fighting the windmills; STEEM was lost, the foundation was rotten, and there was no point in continuing to build on top of it... Among many others, I had no doubts about the "chain to go", it was decided way back in time... Where the community goes, I'm with them, where my friends go, I'm with them... Luckily, most of my "on-chain friends" picked wisely and moved to HIVE, where we continued to build our connections, bonds, and friendships!

Some people joined later, or "switched sides", and it's important to be open to accepting them... I saw some grudge held among some people, but we shouldn't act like that... HIVE is for everyone, and anyone can make a mistake or two... In the end, if we can't forgive others, we aren't better than those who are repressing us, who think they know everything, tho think they can buy the community, who think they can buy our FREEDOM...

I would like to thank every single person who was here during the bad times, during the good times... If you are a witness, thank you for running the chain... If you are a coder, thank you for your work... If you are a content creator, thank you for inspiring others... If you are a commentator, thank you for encouraging people to keep sharing and motivating them to continue... If you are a project manager, thank you for adding value to the chain and to other users... Every single Hivian has made this place as it is at the moment... We have shaped HIVE and made it HOME!

Happy 6th B-Day HIVE! 🥂🍻

Thank you for your time.

For some, it looks like we went backwards, but so many things have improved, and hopefully some "missing pieces" will come into place too!

Have a great weekend!

I didn't leave, but I can imagine how it is to come back... It's probably like getting back to "renew" some old friendships, or moving to your old neighborhood... Makes you think, why the heck did I leave in the first place? 😃

1st time i left was because of all the negativity and whale wars , 2nd time I was to bussy in real life needed to focus on getting outside again and overwin my anxiety , so far so good .

Yeah, negativity spreads like a wildfire... But, the good reminder is that there will always be some cool people on HIVE, worth the time, and to have fun... Ignoring assholes and focusing on friends is the best way to do it... 😂

Happy Hive birthday. I wasn't around for when Hive forked off from STEEM but I remember quite a few people talking about it.

Oh, really... As I see you almost every day on HIVE, I thought you were here even longer than me!

Sometimes I wish I had seen that uprise against the infamous takeover... Must have been thrilling

It was kind of stressful, especially for those who had big stakes... I was "young" on the chain, so I wasn't too much implicated, but I did follow the events... Anyways, it's nice to have a history... A rebellion! :)

Maybe is a good thing that I joined a bit later and missed that whole "drama" a few years before that.. Let's look forward to the next Hive birthday!

Hehehe... Maybe it was a bit tense, but in the end, as the chain has forked, we doubled our tokens... 😃
That was a good side of it... :)
