Great writers understood this. Chekhov has his famous rifle rule: if a rifle is shown hanging on the wall at the beginning of a play, it must be fired before the end.

Everything we say in a story, every element, must have value, must have a function. The same applies to life. We cannot afford to say or do things that contribute nothing.

Every word, every action, must have a clear purpose. If it doesn't, it's just noise that distracts, tires, and confuses. Efficiency is the economy of effort directed toward an end.

En la literatura, el arte está en decir más con la menor cantidad de palabras posibles. En la vida, es más de lo mismo. No se trata de ser frío, sino de ser claro y directo.
