Suddenly I'm a Jack of All Trades?
Easy Peasy!
Sometimes I think: how hard can it be? You apply for a domain name, choose a nice color, add some text, and you're done. Right? Well… no. Once that domain name was secured, the fun really started. Because yeah, if you don't have the budget let someone else doing the work for you, you're suddenly the graphic designer, the marketer, the website builder, and the technical support team all rolled into one.
So, Now What?
So now I'm up to my ears in coming up with a logo (and believe me, that's not just "just drawing up a picture"), coming up with a slogan that doesn't sound like I ripped it off a 1998 brochure, and choosing a CMS. That last part alone is a minefield. Plenty of choices, but each system has its own advantages and disadvantages. One is user-friendly but limited, another can do everything but will cost you every last bit of patience.
Life And Doggy Need Attention Too!
And meanwhile… there's also life. A dog who thinks I stare at that screen way too much and not at him enough. A house that doesn't stay clean by itself. And somewhere in between, I try to catch my breath.
Enjoying The Garden While I Still Can
I prefer to spend those breathers in the garden. Just enjoying what's still blooming, because before you know it, it'll be over. The flowers are still beautiful, but I know: the countdown is on. Soon, we'll be waiting months for spring again.
It's Almost Time
The cornfields around us are still there, but even that won't be long now. They have to be gone by October 1st. And when that happens, you know it immediately. The wind gets free rein, and suddenly it feels a lot colder outside. Then you know: it's almost time. The evenings when the heater can be turned on again.
Little Moments
So yes, I'm busy. Not just with work, but with everything around it. And yet... in a way, it's also beautiful. Because amidst all the hustle and bustle, there are those little moments. A dog resting its head on my lap. A flower still in full bloom. The smell of corn in late summer.
Maybe that's why I'm writing all this down. So I can look back later and see how it was. How I struggled with a logo, grumbled about a CMS, and still found time to reflect on what actually exists.
And now... it's time to shut down the PC completely, because even though that logo doesn't design itself, I'm getting square eyes from staring at my screen. I see HTML and PHP codes dancing before my eyes, so it's time to say... it's evening, time for myself, for a good movie, and for Skipper.

You are a powerful, clever, capable woman @hetty-rowan - bask in those lovely moments !
Ahw, thank you for those lovely words. Sometimes, I think I can do everything, but when I get stuck in some things I need to have, it's not all that easy anymore. Eventually, we'll get the job done, and when that day arrives ... it'll definitely be a "HALLELUJAH day.
I second what @riverflows said, you are so capable. But that doesn't mean you can't feel overwhelmed, I can so identify with that. And yes, it's all about the little moments, they are what make life so beautiful xxx
That's a huge compliment, especially coming from one of the most capable and strong women I have ever known. Yes, I completely agree. It's those little things that make it all worthwhile. And even though I sometimes feel quite overwhelmed, I'm also proud that I'm always managing to take the right steps. It's not happening in leaps and bounds, but every day I'm making a little more progress. From nothing at all, we now have a website in a test environment, where I can experiment and adjust it until it becomes exactly what we envision.
That's so great, all that ye have achieved.
And thank you for your words also. What a huge compliment xxx
I bet you'll come up with a winner of a logo when you put your mind to it. Here's your chance to express your creativity. Or put it out there into our Ladies of Hive community as a guest judge for the week.

Thank you so much for showing so much trust in my capabilities! And yeah, it's a challenge, but definitely a challenge I love to take on. Sorry for my late reply, I started fresh this morning. Ready to answer all comments, and then my partner started the website, and there we went ... head over heels into code, and making great progress. So it's only just now that I closed that down for the day, getting ready for some sleep and heading to my bed. Thanks for the suggestion you made! I'll definitely think about a logo contest; the idea hadn't come to my mind, but it does sound interesting.

I can totally relate to the 'suddenly I'm an expert at everything' feeling! It's so easy to get caught up in the stress. I love that you're taking time to appreciate those small moments with your dog and the garden 💖 You've got this! 💪
Without the small moments, I don't think I'd make it. Lol! Besides that, Skipper deserves all the attention he can get, as does the garden!
I can relate so much, wearing all the hats can be overwhelming. But those little moments with nature and loved ones really keep us grounded.
Hmmm, I'm not sure if it really keeps me grounded, but I do know it's necessary to take those breaks. When you're stuck in code all day, you lose sight of the solutions to the problems that always arise with website development. Even if they're right in front of you. Besides, enjoying the sun while I can, playing with Skipper, and taking walks to keep Skipper happy and myself moving is simply essential. It also helps keep my mind focused. But I do think many people recognize these kinds of problems... that's for sure!
