LOH WK328: TRAVEL RISK.

Traveling simply means movement of people from one location to another. Traveling can be done within a state, country or internationally.

So far, I can call myself an average traveler because I have the privilege to have traveled to about fifteen states in western and northern pars of Nigeria and I travel at least four to five times in a Year.

As much as traveling with family can be fun and a bonding time for all the members of ones family I prefer to travel alone. Traveling comes with a lot of risk and some risk might be too dangerous to take.

Some years back, when I was a child,some couple had their statutory wedding in a state and we're supposed to hold their reception in another state. The two states are just forty five minutes drive apart.They got burnt in transit because a tanker that was transporting fuel caughtt fire.

Imagine if someone who was traveling with their family was on the road that day, they may all be wiped out or live with the trauma of almost getting burnt on the high way.

Another exceperience that may made me not to consider family traveling happened to me few years back. Presidential election was held, the results were yet to be announced and the masses where all in fear(that is how the situation can be in my country). and I had to travel to the capital of the country.

Though movements were not restricted but people decided to stay at home out of fear. On getting to the park, I had to board the next available bus. Guess what, the vehicle broke down on the way and we had to pass the night in the bus. Our initial plan was to travel through the night but we could not continue our journey till the afternoon of the following day.

If I had taken such journey with my family, my children would have worn out and find the journey stressful. Don't even suggest we travel through the day, the journey is a long one and may not be completed in a day. Moreso I am not a fan of going to new places at night.

In conclusion, I prefer to travel alone for the safety of my family, not to subject my family to stress and to provide me with the time and independence I might need to get things done on time and return home.
