Week on Hive
13 of 30 tracked posts made it to this week's issue of the "Week on Hive" roundup. A couple of them may be cross-posted in the Hive News community without being included in this news roundup.
In the Spotlight
Interesting Hive Core Developers Meeting
Recently, a new Hive Core Dev Meeting took place. This is the recording and AI-generated summary.
There were quite a few interesting subjects approached, but I want to point out two of them.
We Will Have Three Main Search Capabilities on Hive Soon
Content discovery and search have often been brought up as issues where Hive "loses points". Looks like we have good news in this area.
Probably the best search feature on Hive already used in production at scale is the one developed by the Ecency team, using elastic search. This will continue to be maintained, to have something to test against the new search features that will be released.
So... what will be the new ones? There will be a full-text search, including both title and body of posts, which will be built on HiveMind based on capabilities existing in PostgreSQL. You should be able to find a certain post published at anytime by anyone, if you know a specific phrase used in that post or title.
The second new one is AI-based. Each post will have a vector of embeddings for semantic search. What this helps with is finding related concepts, like to find similar posts.
The latter search tool (called HiveSense) can already be tried out. It's a HAF application, which has been included as the main search feature on the new, but not fully released, Denser.
Hive Wallet and Metamask Integration
This doesn't seem to be quite finished, with the ball now in the court of Metamask, but the code of the Hive Wallet Metamask Snap got audited already and passed, from the announcement.
When all things will be finished, this may be another Hive wallet. It would work anywhere Metamask works. And that's a way to access different blockchains (Ethereum, Solana, BNB, Hive) from one extension.
The team behind it (@thebeedevs) either works closely or is part of the Blocktrades team. I never got that figured out.
We may see the new extension added as an option to transact on various Hive front ends soon.
It's interesting that this is not the Keychain extension for the EVMs. That will be another one.
Hive started to interconnect more.
Marketing / Awareness / Branding / Meetings
Happy Customer Supermarket Puts Their HBD Loan to Good Use
They received a 1,500 HBD loan recently as you might've read already, and used it to restock the store, documenting everything in their posts. Their turnover increased significantly in May, as customers enjoy finding products they like and receive discounts too.
When Centralization Fails...
Hive quietly thrives.
Apparently, Apple had an outage and big podcasters got pissed that their podcasts are not showing for hours. Well, Hive kept going, and quietly reached 3,000 podcast announcements per hour.
22nd Hive Borehole Launched
I hope people from those regions are grateful (these ones seem happy), because we keep building boreholes in Ghana. If not them, maybe others will take an interest to see what this Hive that keeps building boreholes in their country is about.
Onboarding App Keeps Getting Improved
The app that was designed for Talent Land to help with onboarding and which can be found at https://checkinwith.xyz/ keeps getting improved (you can see details in last week's dev update for the Swarm of Swarms). I'm not sure what the "backend checks" represent, but I assume a real person will actually get rewarded for joining and perhaps proving they are real and unique or something like that - not much, but 2 HIVE and some BTC sats will be a nice welcome bonus for some...
New Hive Summit in Aachen
@detlev invites anyone who can make it to another (yearly, I think?) Hive Summit in Aachen, between 22nd and 24th of August. Some details can be found here, but more will follow...

LEO's Transition to Non-Inflationary Tokenomics Explained
Another week, another AMA. As expected, the transition of LEO to a non-inflationary token was the main topic on the agenda. Check it out!
A way to discover newbies...
There have been interesting discussions lately about discovering newbies, and gamifying their experience (work in progress - this is the content creation part). In the meantime, this can be one way to discover newbies.
Games
Splinterlands Campaign Mode
The first release of the PvE mode of Splinterlands called Campaign Mode is targeting new players, to teach them the basics of playing the game. Along with the new game mode a new set of cards was released for this purpose. For now, cards from this set can only be won in campaign and are soulbound and cannot be combined. But later, ways to trade the cards will be available, and they will be combine-able.
From my understanding, the set will be available forever, packs will be purchasable, and these cards should always be available in Modern. Cards from the Foundation set are normally less powerful than the ones from normal sets, which would still make the latter desirable.
The Campaign Mode can be extended with new lessons and with challenges for advanced players too.
Here are all the updates from this week's release for Splinterlands, including the new mode.
New Auction House for Splinterlands Assets
This week, another novelty was the launch of an auction house for Splinterlands assets, where the desired outcome is to make offer meet demand for more illiquid assets, for which it is difficult to determine a price. The new website is called Ahonex.com. which is an acronym of "Auction House ONline EXchange".
Week in the Crypto World
And So It Ended...
Whatever Trump and Elon Musk had together. I assume you've seen the soap opera-like messages. We also had Bitcoin Conference 2025 in Las Vegas, full of bitcoiners and... politicians, including VP Vance and the two Trump sons (from what I read). Apparently, it's almost a tradition that BTC price goes down after their main annual conference (I didn't know about that). But what triggered the selloff this year was Elon Musk and Trump exchanging virtual punches on social media. Price rebounded hard from 100k though.
Corporate Treasuries Hold 3.2% of Total Bitcoin Supply, Report Says
We must be talking about public holdings and disclosed amounts. I tend to believe we are talking about higher numbers.
But the Standard Chartered report being quoted mention 60 corporations controlling collectively 3.2% of the total BTC supply, i.e. around 673,897 BTC. Apparently, some of those corporate entities are growing their stakes at a higher rate than Strategy does.

Decentralization isn’t just a feature—it’s a fight. Let’s model fairness, rally allies, and pressure Hive to live up to its ideals.

I don't trust some of these politicians around crypto as they may just be out for personal gain. I don't think they care that much about the technology even though it can be used to bypass them.
There's plenty happening around Hive. I think things like Podping may be a growth area as Hive provides a cheap way to get data around in a robust way. I've thought about some applications, but I'm not sure how to implement them.
!PIZZA
The ones they are focused on are no longer built to bypass them. Some may have been... in the past. I agree on the trust part. There's nothing to trust.
Yes there is. And speed of development seems to be intensifying or now the tools have been developed and it's easier to start focusing on building apps based on them.
$PIZZA slices delivered:
@steevc(1/5) tipped @gadrian
Come get MOONed!
I heard auction house in splinterlands has some bugs, like people had their Dec disappearing on nothing lol
Oops! That's definitely not good...
I will have to try Ahonex. Perhaps it's time to say goodbye to some of the Splinterlands Beta cards.
Once again, thank you for the great compilation of the news!PIMP & !PIZZA
@steemmillionaire, sorry! You need more to stake more $PIZZA to use this command.
The minimum requirement is 20.0 PIZZA staked.
More $PIZZA is available from Hive-Engine or Tribaldex
One of the comments mentioned there may be some bugs where DEC got missing. Maybe you should look into that before you sell a valuable card.
The metamask integration seems interesting, and I guess I should at least watch the video to hear more about the LEO changes. I'll see how things go.
Looks like, at the current revenues, the amount of LEO being distributed for curation would be about 1/10 from the amount it is now distributed from inflation. But that will not increase the amount of LEO in circulation, will be bought back to be distributed.
Getting HIVE out of the silo it has been in for all these years is a great thing. At this rate a Conbase listing might not be completely out of reach. Even without Coinbase, we have many other centralized exchanges that have not listed HIVE. Since we have already managed to get futures listing on Binance, it should not be difficult to get listed on few more exchanges. Even SPS made it to Crypto.com Exchange.
You may want to look into what is going on with us having 20X more players all of a sudden:
I know the work needed for Coinbase integration was finished. They are waiting for feedback from Coinbase. They may still say no.
Related to new Splinterlands players, is this related to the new YGG events/tournaments linked to Splinterlands? Or they have something else major going on right now too?
@davemccoy posted this yesterday in regards to the massive spike of games played. It was some massive bot farms that botted Campaign Mode and the team intended it to be played manually only.

The Metamask integration seems like an exciting prospect and I can't really wait. So I heard there was supposed to be a HF or a SF, I'm not sure, but it seems like we've not had that in a while, and I don't know if this is when this integration will happen
THIS is good as well, especially for usability within the chain.
As for the wells in Ghana, they definitely should be grateful, at least that's we expect.
No, this is unlikely to be linked to a HF. They haven't felt they had anything major to add to a HF to push it. Now, most of the work can become active without any HF.
The new search capabilities will be felt in the UX.
