Behind The Curve .:. MyHiveGoals 2025

First things first! Happy Easter! I hope you spent a nice day with your family and friends! I had a very mixed day today, and couldn't focus enough to create this post... In previous years, I would do these #MyHiveGoals every Sunday, and this year, I'm doing them maybe once per month... or even fewer times...

Believe me or not, I created this thumbnail yesterday, after I took the photo in the background on a pleasant family walk where we visited a nearby mountain... The road in the photo is only for walking and bicycles, and it's not allowed to go there by car... As it was Saturday, before Easter, we didn't meet anyone on the path! The road leads to the top of the mountain, as with all mountains/hills, it is full of curves, which reminded me of an interesting anecdote from a walk with a friend from a few years ago... Originally, I wanted to share this anecdote, and add another meaning to it... But, in the meantime, this photo got another, unpleasant meaning too...

The anecdote... We were on a walk (hiking) to another hill a few years ago with a friend who led us there... It was the first time for us and we had no idea how hard it was to climb to the top... When you are hiking, usually you don't see the top of the mountain, and even if you see it, it's hard to "calculate" how far the top is... As we were exhausted somewhere in the middle of the road, our friend was trying to cheer us up every time when we would ask how far the top was... She would say: It's right behind the curve!" Of course, the curve would be super long, and after that one, there would be another one... and another one... 😂 After about 10 curves, we did reach the top...

The metaphor... A month ago, I shared a story about my beginnings on the Internet, as a reflection on Eddie Jordan's death... With a "time distance" view of those events, I would very often remind myself of how close I was to succeeding... In that story, I was too early, and the events that were happening weren't good, but... If I had persistence to keep pushing a bit more, maybe just one curve more, the success was maybe waiting behind it... or maybe another one after that one... The success was waiting behind the curve, but I quit before reaching the top, and went back down the mountain...

Sad correlation... Unfortunately, the curve was one of the places that made a day today... On my way back home, we got stuck in the traffic jam that appeared in front of us just 10-15 minutes before... Two ambulances passed us, a helicopter was flying over the area, and 2-3 police patrols were accompanying the event... The last patrol car showed us to make a U-turn and pick another road to continue our journey... Something serious happened... We didn't know what exactly, but all the signs were there...

Later today, we found out that one cyclist lost his life and another one is seriously injured in a car accident that happened just 10 minutes before we got there... It happened in an area that is passing through hills, just before the tunnel, in the long curve, with very bad visibility... Unfortunately, someone didn't get out of the curve alive...

It's a good reminder about the importance of getting OUT of the curve, and it doesn't matter on which side... If we win, great, if we go back, well, we learn something and can try again... But, please, take your time, don't rush things up... as you could not get out of the curve ever...

Back to the #MyHiveGoals numbers... As I mentioned, the last report was a month ago, which is crazy long... Many things have changed, so let's check out the numbers...

I did another 250 HIVE power-up on #HivePUD and that's the biggest bar on the chart that you can see... The rest are mainly my curation rewards as I earned more HP from them than from author rewards...

As it has been almost exactly a month (4 days more), it's a perfect moment to make a comparison... From the last report, I have added over 1800 HivePower to my HP goal!! That's 100 more than the previous month... Also, I have passed a nice, rounded number... 110K HivePower reached!!! 15K to go!

At the end of last year, I took some profits from cryptos that I had in my portfolio on other chains... While it made sense to use DeFi on them and earn yields on my stablecoins, I was doing that... Lately, the APRs have gone down significantly, and I have decided to move some of those funds here on HIVE to HBD! That's why my monthly staked HBD goal is reached in April, and probably for May too... In total, I have 3K HBD in my stake and I need another 2K to reach my yearly goal... If we get another bull run (even a short one), I will probably take more profits and easily reach the goal... If not, well, there is a chance to do it too, but it will be harder...

My Hive Meetups goal is still at 0, but this will change in May as I'm going to Graz soon, where I will participate in @BuzzParty's #HiveCreatorDays! Can't wait to see some of my old friends and meet a few new Hivians!

Regarding my "gaming goals", I didn't change my Rising Star game goal yet, as I already mentioned that the number of cards isn't that relevant anymore... I haven't decided yet how to proceed with this goal and will need more time to see how to change it... I'm still playing the game, but in a different way than I was before... The circumstances and ranking "rules" have changed, and if you are playing, you should probably think about your strategy and tweak it...

On the other side, it looks like I didn't calculate/predict well my GolemOverlord goal at all! At the beginning, I thought that this one would be one of the most complicated goals to reach, but in the end, it was the easiest one! I have reached my yearly goal by ranking in the Top 350 accounts! Not sure if that happened because I was pushing more, or because some players quit the game... In either way, I'm happy with that and will continue following my rankings... Maybe I will raise up this goal... will see...

I reduced my HBD amount to 1000. I am not sure whether it would be a good decision to stake much more HBD. Staking HIVE seems more sensible 🙄

I have plenty of HP and putting more into HBD is kind of diversifying assets... I know it's a "stable coin", but who knows where the HIVE price will go... It's good to have some HBD gunpowder if it goes down... 😃

The road where the accident happened is very, very dangerous, both cars and cyclists are driving fast, and the visibility is very bad... 😞

I think it's fine if you don't post on Sunday or Saturday when it's Easter 😅 I mean it's one of the bigger holidays of the year... One would need the magic ball with the curves

Nice progress. It's fine to skip a week or two. Life happens, but the hike sounds kind of rough. I guess 10 curves and 1 curve might be the same for the person leading you.

Great anecdote! I think when the opportunity presents itself, it's a good choice to get out of the curve, do something else, and then come back again later when circumstances are better or try on a different one. Sad news of the cyclists, life is always unpredictable.

Making decisions is part of the process, and it's not always clear which direction is better to take... To stay on the same track, or take another path... I suppose we can agree that the most important thing is to keep going forward!

The shorter pump can bring your HBD goals closer as you've said, but perhaps you'll have to wait till Q4 for the crazier pumps.

Such events are special and should be celebrated with family and friends. Last week, an accident occurred in our city, in which two people died instantly due to speeding. So, everyone should be careful.

This reminded me of an ex-colleague who likes to bring us to lunch places that were "quite far" from our office. And whenever we asked if we were reaching, she would say it's just a little more ahead. And in reality, it's not quite the case, but we eventually reached. Haha.

You're doing great as usual, maybe except on the meetups side, but that's probably a tough one.

Regarding GO, I think I ranked up some 400, maybe even 500 places since I have the goal, to 622nd currently. Mine is not a ranking goal, but pushing on my goal has the side effect of ranking me up. You might be right that others may have slowed down. Frankly, I think that's a mistake. It's a game that is still rewarding after quite a bit since launch, unlike others.

GO is heavily under the radar, but it is doing much better than many other HIVE games... Both main tokens are doing well, which is the weakest point of all blockchain games... I'm happy that I didn't stop playing, as who knows what's coming in the future... The Dev is super-fast and knows his job, too!
