Backplate of the Statue of Satoshi in Budapest, Hungary

Was sagt ihr dazu?

English

The Satoshi statue in Budapest is usually depicted from the front on the internet, but what it looks like from the back is less well known.

I visited the statue in January 2025 and also photographed the back. There is an plate listing the sponsors, but even then it was no longer particularly legible.

The world's first monument to Satoshi Nakamoto was sponsored by the Hungarian Bitcoin community in 2021 and designed by Réka Gergely and Tamás Gilly.

There are now also Bitcoin statues in Lugano, Switzerland, and Fornelli, Italy.

What do you think? Why is the plate hardly legible? Have you already visited one of the Satoshi statues?

Probably metal was an unfortunate choice, better made the plate with other material more lasting

I didn’t know about the sponsor plaque on the back of the statue. It’s amazing how this monument honors Satoshi and the idea behind Bitcoin. I’d love to see it in person someday.

A nice way to commemorate Satoshi for his ingenuity of creating a financial system as useful as BTC. It's an impressive statue and the Hungarian BTC community did a nice thing setting it up.

It's interesting to see some stuff on the back of the satoshi statues. I haven't visited any yet.
