Leaving Seattle, Iron Horse Brewery, Just Missed, Return Home, Book, LA Riots, Garlic Scapes, Radishes, Fire, Grilling - Sunday
It took us a bit to get out of the hotel yesterday morning. The boys wanted to swim early which was good as the pool filled up later. We hit the breakfast just in time before they closed then were able to get packed and checked out before 10am. Stopped nearby for the cheapest gas in the area by FAR at the Walmart, like 50 cents cheaper per gallon...
Then we headed east. The 18 actually flowed okay and got us to the 90 at Snoqualmie. Then it was up and over the pass.
We got to the brewery 10 minutes before it opened so waited a bit then went in.
We stood in front ordering wood fired pizza and I looked up to see 2 hawks spinning wing tip[ to wing tip in a thermal and a 3rd hawk flew by and into the bas4e of the thermal.
Soon they were barely visible overhead.
The boys love brew pubs since they generally have a games nook.
Great beer as always. We've been coming to the brewery for at least a dozen years.
I had to laugh at the sign. "But also don't want to interact with anyone?" Lol.
We got done at the brewery and then headed for home. We were nearing Moses Lake when I could see HUGE super tall dust devils in the dry fields. It was crazy to see 4 or 5 tiny satellite dusties around the base and I could see how they all formed into the one massive dusty/thermal.
It really showed very clearly just how violent the air is in the freshly forming or even well established dusties.
Back in Spokane we stopped for gas on the north side and then soon were home.
Once home we were settled back in and I happened to check the news headlines online and found that we had JUST MISSED THIS! Vehicle vs pedestrian on I90 in Moses Lake We probably missed it by at most half an hour if not a lot closer. I didn't see anyone along the freeway when we went by that exit but that doesn't mean much.
SUPER HAPPY my new book arrived! I have just 2 paragliding books left to get and I will have ALL the main ones. SO MUCH INFO!!! The problem is applying it.
Heard about the LA riots so kicked on the LA news to give a watch. The 101 was occupied in down town LA and the guard activated.
This was just hilarious to watch as the smoke bombs blew right back in the troops faces. I had thought it was cs at first but no one reacted bad so it was just smoke bombs.
Ahh yes, lead the city even farther down into the depths of hell. She's got it to at least level 3 already, might as well just dive all the way to the bottom.
I had enough of the idiocy so put music on then went to cut garlic scapes. I got through most of the rows but my hand filled up so I called it for then. I will go get the rest this morning.
We had a few radishes ready in the potato rows as well.
I had the fire going and then got burgers on to grill.
Soaking was nice despite the heat.
Boys have 2.5 days of school left and I will get them there in a bit. I have to roam the farm for anything that needs doing this morning then will be heading up to Chewelah at noon to go paraglide Parker's again.

Sounds like a nice road trip, my friend!😊
Wood fired pizzas are the best!
My neighbor up the road holds the patent for wood fire, and gas fired pizza ovens. It was probably one of his. They are around the world😊
I've been wondering for a while now whether I should invest in a gas mask. I avoid the areas where these clashes between rioters and riot cops usually happen, but if I am traveling, who knows? $300-ish should get a high-quality modern mask and spare filters, but I'd also have to shave my beard. Not a fan of that or the expense.
I have had a full face for many years. It is an old surplus with carts to screw on. Check the various stores around CDA, or the Priest River surplus maybe. You can just tighten it down and minimize the flow past the beard.
