Harvests, Barn Spider, Chiro, Peas, Bees, STUNG, Feathers, Garlic, Swollen - Tuesday
Not exactly fun days now with the pain in my upper body but at least I've begun the process of trying to repair. I got to the garden early and had to move through quicker due to my appointment.
My barn spider has built quite the web over my scale.
Everyday it sits all day in the middle of its web.
This gives a better view of the web. Really wide span it has built with some support threads looking to be over 8 feet long.
Greenhouse did okay for the day and I finished picking in time to leave for my chiro appointment.
Decompression was nice on my back and hips then I rolled myself to pain on the table before Doc went through the adjustments. It helped but only so much.
On a trip through the farm I stopped at the peas drying to check and found most all of the shells are quite dried. They will be ready for shelling soon to save for seed for next year.
Around 2:30 I got my bee suit on and hauled a mite treatment to the hive. I used my red light on my headlamp, closed the window and left the door open. They were not exactly happy to have me busting into the hive and made themselves quite vocal about it. I had to pull the flow frames out since they didn't use them then add in normal frames. I ended up having to drop the mite treatment on the top of the middle super since I couldn't lift the middle super it is FAR too full of honey.
I took this picture and put the phone in my front pocket but a bee went in with it apparently.
I got stung through the fabric and when I smacked the pocket the stinger busted off the bee and in my trying to kill it I punched the stinger into myself a couple more times.
It didn't take long for it to begin to swell and soon was mounding a lot. I coated it in Benadryl which helped a little bit.
Wandered up the hillside and did a fence line loop. Wow did I find the eagle preening tree. Just south along our fence line from their nest tree is their preening trees and I had not been up in a while so the needles had covered a number of them thanks to the recent winds.
This is the garlic now with the labels. Next is trying to find a way to store them. Been thinking of maybe a #3dprinted shelving setup for them...
I had left the door to the shed open so the bees could get out and get to the entrance so I went and closed it after dark. They really are not fans of the mite treatment as they were all massed around the entrance.
The swelling got to be pretty big but 3 or 4 stings in the same region will do that.
The 100mg of Benadryl did me good along with the topical. Shower but no soaking as the hot would have been hell on the stings. This morning the swelling is much reduced and the pain diminished. Granted my shoulder is still trashed and in pain but at least the stings are better.
I start physical therapy today which I am very happy about as I am NOT happy about the pain. After I will go get my labs done finally. J has an early release day thanks to the garbage A/C units in the middle and high school, I pick in the garden after getting the boys to school, tend to my "wounds", in the heat of the afternoon I want to re-setup my mesh devices so I can get my repeater actually mounted on the hill.

I have been curious about the mesh devices, interesting to see how they work out for you. We might have a use for one here as well. Just recently added Starlink several weeks ago, it was on 50% sale for equipment!👍😊
The mesh devices are pretty slick and work on line of sight in the 900 mhz range. I've gotten about 5 miles at most so far but that was without one mounted up high. There is really a lot of uses cases for them but the floods back east was where the tech really shined. I've been thinking they would work better than bluetooth for a weather station to receive the data from longer distances.
I like the idea the weather station that sounds very beneficial!👍
Starlink has made such an improvement! We had old telephone lines that were doubled up from Ziply Fiber with 20 Mbps max. It got to the point our Internet was going down 3 to 5 times a day!🙄
Everything was new on my end that I installed, yet they wanted to come out and troubleshoot our home….
Several neighbors were having some problem on our street with Internet going down. They could not comprehend that the problem was on their end!🤬
The joys of in ground wires. Starlink has been pretty good for us overall. There are hiccups now and then but the 9+mb/sec download speeds are really nice compared to centurylink that we had before.
We were really fortunate to find a spot to place the “dish”….😮
We live in the deep forest, and the only spot that gets sun is on top of my garage, where my solar array is located.😇
The Starlink app said some obstructions, but won’t affect signal!
Sold!💪😊
