Chiro, Peas, More Garlic Harvest, HOT, Fly Catcher Cooling, SIV Prep, Meeting - Tuesday

I got my clothes in the wash first thing yesterday morning but they finished as I had to leave for my chiro appointment. After decompression I ended up getting nearly half an hour rolling on the table. Talk about mashing the knots, I hit my whole back and even hips with the roller which was super needed after the tension I have been under with my upcoming SIV.

After a stop at the bank for my course fees I had to stop for gas on the way home which worked so I wasn't following the WSP car.

Finally back on the farm I got my clothes hung on the line then headed out to the garden but it was too hot for the greenhouse so went to the peas to pick. I got 1.25 pounds this time!

Then mid day I was out looking over the garlic and decided to pull the rest of the Georgian Crystal which have given some of the largest bulbs so far.

Then a little later I was back digging the row of Persian Star.

This time I got more back than I planted! Thanks to twins that grew I got 4 more. About half the bulbs are larger while the other half is on the smaller side. All are hung and drying in the garden shed now with about 142 bulbs max left to dig. I will be nearly 100 shy of the 1000+ I planted though so have to figure that out for next year.

It was damned hot in the sun but the wind did help a bit. I was sitting at my computer making notes when I saw the Fly Catcher land on the triangle. It was nifty watching it as the breeze picked up it spread out its tail feathers and the upwind wing to try and cool off.

It fluffed up its under feathers to allow the air to get to its skin and it had its beak open looking like it was panting.

The 4 chicks are ravenous so they are in constant motion bringing food.

Much of the afternoon was spent inside getting my gear ready for this weekend and trying to stay cool. I have a list of stuff I need to have with and I'm trying to decide if I should swap my reserve to my other front mount container since I won't need my flight deck... I got the car topper out and got my wings and harnesses together.

At 5pm I headed north to Chewelah for the MASA flying club meeting at the pizza shop. We had a good meeting with a number of items to work on moving forward. We are a 501c now and can soon apply for USHPA club membership.

Quartzite rocks are just to the right in the background. Where I am the one flying from it and no one else has had the gumption to.

The drive home went okay but it was still damned hot when I got home after 8pm. I had no desire to be even hotter in the hot tub so I sat inside and watched more SIV videos.

Today is crunch day where I get as much done on the farm as possible. There are beans, peas, cabbage, lettuce, and likely more garlic to harvest. I have the rest of my flying gear to get ready and staged, maybe concertina my new wing for easier travel, the boys MUST clean in the house today, it's to be red flag so hot and windy and I'm trying to get the house cooled off right now.

Sounds way too hot my friend!🥵
We are finally getting some rain, maybe this storm will make your way and cool things off a bit 😊

Looks like it will be on your side only. It's heading NE into BC, too far north of us. Will cool off a bit though for tomorrow.

I was watching the Doppler as well this morning, it does look like it’s heading north…….
I always like sunny days, but my Spring planted baby pine trees needed the rain!😅
By the way, the 3D printed wasp nest you sent are definitely keeping them away!
Very amazing!🤗👍

I think the temperature only dropped to about 67 degrees here overnight, which doesn't do anything to cool off the house. Or the outside, for that matter. And I was late getting out to the garden today, so I got too warm. I read some information about when to harvest garlic and decided mine was ready. I only planted a few, so it didn't take long. The pocket gophers have destroyed the peas, so that's one less thing to water. (Trying to find a silver lining to the cloud, y'know.) The largest yellow summer squash plant is finally producing! I ate one small one yesterday, and another is just about ready. I hope your upcoming adventures go well!

Yeah the heat last night was not fun. I just picked my first squash this morning and it looks like they will be coming into production once we are back. I'm just now going out to harvest the last of my garlic which will put me over 900 from 13 varieties. This/next year I will have 21 varieties and hopefully at least 2000 cloves planted, though that may not leave us tons for the year from this harvest but likely more than enough.
