Science is life

Science is all around us; science is everywhere, science is what makes many of us still breathe, and science is life. Science, they say, is the pursuit and application of knowledge of the natural world through observations and experimentation.

As I said, science is an entirety; science, in general, it's just everything. I feel very terrible sometimes not being a scientist. Though I used to be at a very early age, Chemistry seemed too hard and scared me away. At the point in life when I understood the versatility that comes with sciences and how it has transformed our daily lives and shaped the world, I wish I could be a scientist and explore.

The areas of science that I really love are saving lives, keeping people alive, and medical breakthroughs.

My Mum is a retired medical practitioner; I have lived many lives in the hospital quarters. I have seen things, my Mum always shared experiences, and I have read her books. There was a day I came across one of the orthopedic textbooks she used back then in school; after opening the first few pages, I saw a drawing-like drawing; the drawings showed how amputation was being carried out back in those days. Three hefty men hold a man tied to a chair, his left stretched forward and also tied to a stand, while the doctors use a saw to cut off the leg.

Even the pain alone can kill; see what happens then and now; surgery will be carried out without you knowing anything, without feeling any pain, only the post-surgical pains. Without scientific discoveries, we could still be in that era where saws, hammers, carpentry, and electrical tools would be used for orthopedics.

Thinking about the rate of maternal death compared to what it is now, any complications in pregnancy are sorted out successfully without stress now; you can even decide on a day you want to give birth; all it takes is a ceaserial session. People do IVF when they have difficulty conceiving or carrying a pregnancy, none of these would have been possible without science. Their discovery has given the whole world life.

Another area of science that I like is the Solar System, the greatest mystery in the world, that science is unlocking.

When I see pictures and watch videos on the solar system, I used to wonder what level of curiosity took the first astronaut to space without disappearance. That's the universe; I believe the universe is spiritual, not ordinary, but scientists are still exploring. When I see the Sun and another planet, I wonder what is suspending them; we all know it's gravitational force, but what if these people don't care to know?

I have heard of tribes that worship solar eclipse; they say they call it a day turned into night, and it has a lot of spiritual undertones. If not for science that made us know that it was just such as the moon passing between the sun and the earth, blocking the light, and casting a shadow on the earth, such traditions could have spread across many places in the world. Science is good, it's life, it's the future.

Talking about the Sun, it's really helping me personally in terms of renewable energy, I'm in a place in Nigeria that has power, but we don't really get it. I use solar power, and I don't even care if the power holding company gives us light or not. We have stayed for more than a year without seeing light but thank God, we now rely solely on solar to do most of our things.

Talking about how fascinating science is will make this write-up too voluminous; in general, science has made our lives easier, and it gives answers to all curiosity related to life.

Science is everything to the world!
