A Normal School Day on Mars (what sort)
People on Earth always ask me what it’s like going to school on Mars. They think we ride jetpacks to class and have aliens as teachers or something. I wish it was that exciting.
Truth is Mars school is mostly the same as Earth school on just redder, dustier, and with more emergency drills and more.
I wake up at 6:00 Martian Standard Time. That’s earlier than Earth kids time, I think. The gravity here is lighter, so jumping out of bed is easier. But trust me, it still feels heavy when you're tired.
My school is inside Dome 3. It's a big glass bubble with oxygen filters that always smell like old socks. We still have boring classes like math, history, and science. Except our history class includes Earth and Mars stuff like the Great Terraforming of 2133 and the Big Oxygen Leak of 2151.
Our teachers are human, but we have a few android assistants. One of them, Mr. Blink, always glitches and repeats the same line three times:
"Please submit your homework... please submit your homework... please submit " yeah, we get it, Blink. Just someone that's too discipline.
Lunchtime is weird. The food is made from printed protein blocks, so everything kind of tastes like… mashed cardboard. My favorite is one shaped like pizza. Not because it tastes like pizza, it just looks like it somehow.
After school, some kids go to gravity sports club. I don’t. Last time I tried, I jumped too high and crashed into the ceiling net. I still have the bruise on my elbow.
The best part of my day is watching Earth from the dome window. It’s just a small blue dot, floating far away. Kinda peaceful. Makes you think about how far we’ve come and still thought of home.
So yeah, Mars school isn’t full of aliens or flying chairs well one chair did float once when the anti-grav system messed up . But it’s still my life. And honestly, I kinda like it here.
Even if the food is terrible I still cope.
