Colour Legend

.
.
.
.
.

Greetings Dear Art Appreciators,

.
Hope you are well.
.

This is an original artwork representing tulips, in a bleu and white ceramic vase, which is now part of the 'Tulip Cottage' art series....with emphasis on the elegance of tulips; their colours, shape and carefree serendipity.

This painting is not the only one, two of them have already been featured in a previous post...there will be others as the idea has not yet been exhausted. ^__^

An inspiration that came from a photograph of a most unusual and colourful bouquet of Cottage Garden sourced tulips. Two challenges arose...firstly, was that there was nearly every colour of tulip and the other how to express the Art ..of the Tulip's essence.

Wishing you and yours all the best.....God's best!

...'God manifested His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died as a substitute for us.' Romans 5.8

...'For by Grace are you saved through faith and that not from yourselves, it is a gift from God, not of works lest anyone should boast.' Ephesians 2.8,9

It is faith alone in Christ alone for eternal life.

Thank you for dropping by. ^__^

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

A bit of information regarding the painting's details;

The materials used; Saunders 200lb Not/Cold Press,, Winsor&Newton Watercolour paint tubes....Sable Watercolour Legend brushes.....graphite drawing pencil 6B.
Size of work.....28x38cm/11x15in.

A colour legend is typically created prior to painting in order to portray the colours that came to mind when first contemplating the idea. However when in the process of painting...those colours are subject to change.

Thank you for your interest. ^__^

That's a beautiful piece @bleujay. Water colors usually have such a soothing effect and this one definitely does, especially as it's about flowers 🌷 👌🏾.

Beautiful piece. What I especially liked was the vintage / slightly desaturated colour palette, and the texture. Good job. I wish I could draw like you 😃 !PIZZA

Greetings @qwerrie ,

You are too kind...appreciate you dropping by with your kind words and Pizza.

Would I bore you terribly if I told you the Watercolour sphere has introduced watercolour paint from minerals....the background colour in this painting and the other two of this series are using a Daniel Smith watercolour tube paint called 'Hematite Genuine Watercolour', https://danielsmith.com/color-stories/watercolors/hematite-genuine-watercolor/

...providing texture because it is a granulating colour.

...providing texture because it is a granulating colour.

mdaaa. the case when I understand all the separate words - but dont have enough knowledge to understand the whole picture, what does it mean. (I thought the special paper gave this texture... wrong assumption then?..)

....if you look at the texture...particularly the background...you will notice the paint separates/granulates...going from thinner to thicker application on its own depending on how much water is used with the paint. The paper is textured as well...not press/cold press Saunders Watercolour paper.

Hope that helps.... ^__^

Hello !

I enjoyed seeing bits of your tulips and the sketching that takes place underneath.

Even your Colour Legend is nearly an art piece in itself.

"as the idea has not yet been exhausted".... for some reason I liked these words. Exhausting an idea...... A lot of times I see, when looking through years of an artist's work, a pattern of things and styles they tried or updated. Multiple pieces that have related ideas and then eventually a change, appearing to indicate that idea had been exhausted and then it was on to the next idea.

Greetings Jacey,

How very kind of you to drop by for a cuppa. ^__^

Appreciate your kind compliments and response to the post.

So true and some artists have series after series. For me, it is not often that such a thing happens so I just decided to go with it and see where it goes...if that makes sense.

Kind Regards,

Stunning. The colors are amazing and they way they rhyme and make sense is beautiful. I have only seen tulips on TV or something, but I like the details on the inside of the flower

Wishing you and yours all the best.....God's best!

Lovely tulip paintings @bleujay! I'm really enjoying the contrast between the pink and the greens, and I must single out a particular commendation for that deep pink colour you've used for one of the tulips, it has a unique elegance all of its own that one.

For me though its the last image in your post that is most striking, what an array of delicate colours! Really quite stunning, If I could have my bathroom tiled in that pattern and colour scheme I would go for it!

Greetings @peaceandmoney ,

What a lovely response to the artwork and legend.....appreciate hearing your thoughts....thank you!

Happy to hear you mention the pink colour as it is a colour that I practiced painting for almost a year....hoping that it would meet my expectation one day. When I posted the Principle...'Man is never satisfied'....I thought of the challenge of the colour 'Pink'...Hoping to transcend sweetness into Art.

Enjoyed reading your idea for a use of the Colour Legend....I can see it....Splendid!

Thank you for your gift tip....very generous of you!

Kind Regards,

Toodle Pip!

The drawing is really impressive! Was this a special post for Valentine's Day? The timing is very meaningful. How long did it take you to complete it?

Greetings @incublus ,

Appreciate your kind response to the painting....thank you!

Although I do appreciate the story of Saint Valentine...and posted a Snap for Valentine's Day of Tulips....This painting was inspired by Tulips. As the artist I always try to keep in mind the viewer....the viewer brings to the painting his frame of reference.... naming a painting very simply in order not to distract from the viewer's enjoyment of the work. If someone desires to connect the painting with Valentine's Day ...it is their choice.....and makes sense, however someone else may not....hope this explanation makes sense. ^__^

'How long did it take for you to complete it?' you queried.

A query that comes to me many times....if I told you that it has been in my mind for over a year....thinking on it from time to time...that might be hard to believe. Arranging the composition, colours, subject matter before ever lifting a brush. The painting of it is a very short time, comparatively, that's the easy part.....perhaps three weeks.

Kind Regards,

Bleujay

Thank you very much for responding like an artist. You are right, it takes longer to produce a work than you think because you have to plan it and visualize it in your head first.

I respect your work and I understood your answer very well

Nice painting. I like your colour legend which is very colourful. It’s so difficult working with water colour. I always drown the whole sheet of paper with running water of different colours!😂

Love to see bigger and brighter tulips.

If someone tells you @bleujay that a watercolor painting can't convey the scent of these flowers... don't believe that person, they're just looking at life and art from the wrong angle :)
Have a blessed day!
