We can have differences, it's true. I may disagree with my neighbor, my children, my boss, my partner, and I may disagree with a system of government, but I don't agree with the use of force, I don't agree with weapons.

I believe that human beings are intelligent enough to know that we can resolve our problems peacefully without needing to attack others. I don't understand violence, I don't understand evil. We can live in peace and do good, and we haven't yet reached that level of complexity to understand that life is sacred and that we can resolve our differences by discussing them and seeking solutions together.

I want my children to live in a world of peace, not a world of resignation. Let's not confuse peace with the absence of problems, but we must understand that even in the midst of a storm, we must remain calm. And great countries with great leaders must understand that countries are made up of human beings, and we all deserve to live in peace.

I recently read a story in a book from the school library where I work, about a legend where a king asked several artists to paint "perfect peace." Many painted tranquil lakes and clear skies. But the winner painted a raging storm with lightning and thunder, where, in a small bush among the rocks, a bird calmly fed its young.*

Muchos pintaron lagos tranquilos y cielos despejados. Pero el ganador pintó una tormenta furiosa con rayos y truenos, donde en un pequeño arbusto entre las rocas, un pájaro alimentaba a sus crías en total calma."
