I confess I was actively searching for Korean movies to watch so I could participate, as my experience with this genre is limited. In that search, I stumbled upon The Host, and it was a lucky find. I remember seeing this movie many years ago on national television; I didn't remember it completely, but upon seeing the image of the monster, I undoubtedly recalled that I had seen it before. And how could I forget it? It's a classic of horror and science fiction cinema.

Parasite (winner of multiple Academy Awards).

Memories of Murder.

The Express of Fear.

Okja.

I was truly excited when I found the movie, and even more so when I learned who its director was. The Host is a story that grabs you from the very beginning. It's a direct, very raw, and fast-paced film. It's not your typical movie where you find heroes saving the world; in this film, the characters are real people like you and me, with their flaws, weaknesses, and arrogance.

The story introduces us to a normal family. The father, a grumpy and very serious man, is the strong figure in the story. His eldest son, a rather... The carefree and irresponsible father of the girl kidnapped by the monster is joined by another son, a college graduate who hasn't been able to find a job. However, he has many connections that will be key to resolving some of the conflicts that arise. Finally, there's the youngest daughter, an archery competitor who has won a bronze medal. Together, they form a normal family with their flaws, like any other.

However, when a terrible monster appears in the city and kidnaps the girl, they will do everything possible to find her. It's a story with many unexpected twists, plenty of action, and drama. Although it's a horror film, we sometimes find ourselves laughing at the characters' antics and dialogue. #

If there's one thing I can learn from this movie, it's the value of family in Korean culture. I think it's one of the best parts of the film. Even though they are ordinary people, they decide to confront the monster to save the girl. There are very emotional moments that will break your heart. The girl's father initially seemed irresponsible and incompetent, but as the plot unfolds, he becomes a character who gains courage and determination. He is a clear example that a father's love overcomes any adversity.

이 영화에서 배울 수 있는 것이 하나 있다면, 한국 문화 속 가족의 가치입니다. 이 영화의 가장 좋은 부분 중 하나라고 생각합니다. 평범한 사람들이지만, 소녀를 구하기 위해 괴물과 맞서기로 결심하는 장면이 나옵니다. 가슴을 찢어지게 할 만큼 감동적인 순간들이 있습니다. 소녀의 아버지는 처음에는 무책임하고 무능해 보였지만, 이야기가 전개되면서 용기와 결단력을 키우는 인물로 변모합니다. 아버지의 사랑은 어떤 역경도 극복할 수 있다는 것을 보여주는 좋은 예입니다.
