Santa Claus coming to Decorate my Christmas (Eng-Esp)
This first Santa Claus I made, I wanted it to be something different from the more human image, mainly to gain confidence in making this type of crafts. So I thought of these images of Gnomes that seem easier to make, because they are figures with a cone for a hat, a bit of a beard and other details.
I added interest with the combination of materials, textures and different shapes, not only on his body and hat, but also by placing little stars and some golden dots on the hat. Also the use of frosted foam helped to give more life and joy to this design, and I show you my entire creation process below:
Este primer Santa Claus que realizo, quise que fuese algo diferente a la imagen más humana, principalmente para ir tomando confianza al realizar este tipo de manualidades. Así que pensé en estas imágenes de Gnomos que parecen más sencillas de realizar, porque son figuras con un cono por sombrero, algo de barba y otros detalles.
Le agregué interés con la combinación de materiales, texturas y de diferentes formas, no solo en su cuerpo y gorro, sino también al colocarle estrellitas y algunos punto dorados en el gorro. También el uso del foami escarchado ayudó a darle más vida y alegría a este diseño, y te enseño todo mi proceso de creación a continuacíón:
- White and white frosted foam.
- Red foam.
- Skin-colored foam.
- Black and metallic gold cardstock.
- Cotton.
- Hot glue, ruler, and scissors.
- Sheet of paper, pen, and pink marker.
- Foami blanco y escarchado blanco.
- Foami rojo.
- Foami color piel.
- Cartulina negra y dorada metalizada.
- Algodón.
- Silicón caliente, regla y tijera.
- Hoja de papel, bolígrafo y marcador rosado.
The red foam I bought is letter size, so I used a letter size sheet to create and practice the cone design, and when I was happy with the shape and size, I cut it out of the foam and glued it down with hot glue. You have to make sure it sits well on the table, meaning it doesn't look uneven at the base, this will be Santa's body.
To make the belt, I cut strips of black cardstock, and a small rectangle of metallic gold cardstock for what would be the belt buckle, and rounded the corners. The belt turned out pretty well, it looks like the black strip goes through it, but it's just another little piece of black that I placed on top of the gold cardstock.
El foami rojo que compré es de tamaño carta, de manera que utilicé una hoja tamaño carta para crear y practicar el diseño del cono, y cuando estuve satisfecha con su forma y tamaño, lo corté en el foami y lo pegué con silicón caliente. Hay que estar pendiente que se asiente bien en la mesa, es decir que no quede irregular en su base, este será el cuerpo de Santa Claus.
Para hacer el cinturón, corté tiras en cartulina negra, y un rectángulo pequeño en cartulina dorada metalizada para lo que sería al hebilla del cinturón, y redondee las esquinas. El cinturón quedó bastante bien, parece que la tira negra lo atraviesa, pero es solo otro trocito de negro que le coloqué arriba de la cartulina dorada.

I also drew Santa's face and beard on the white sheet to define its size and shape. Then I cut it out of white foam and used leather for the face.
I made the eyes and nose simply with circles that I cut out. And with the pink highlighter I drew a little spot on each cheek and then rubbed it quickly with my finger so it would blend in. It was easy and I liked the result. Having finished these details of the face, I glued the beard on with hot glue and then glued this to Santa's body.
La cara y barba de Santa Claus también la dibujé en la hoja blanca para definir bien su tamaño y forma. Luego la corté en foami color blanco y piel para el rostro.
Los ojos y la nariz los hice simplemente con círculos que recorté. Y con el marcador resaltador rosado le dibujé una manchita en cada mejilla y luego froté rápidamente con mi dedo para que se difuminara, fue fácil y me gustó el resultado. Habiendo terminado estos detalle del rostro, le pegué la barba con silicón caliente y luego pegué esto al cuerpo de Santa Claus.

Again, I made a template on a sheet of paper to make the hat, which would also be a cone. I placed a strip of frosted foam on the base of the hat and decorated it with dots of metallic gold cardstock and little stars that I cut out of the frosted foam. At the tip, a cotton ball.
Nuevamente hice una plantilla en hoja de papel para realizar el sombrero que también sería un cono. Le coloqué una tira de foami escarchado en la base del sombrero y lo decoré con puntos de cartulina dorada metalizada y estrellitas que corté en el foami escarchado. En la punta, un bolita de algodón.

In the end I decided to add some arms to this Santa Claus, I cut out the pieces shown below, and I rolled up what would be the hands in beige, wrapped them in red and finally a strip of frosted white.
Al final decidí colocarle unos brazos a este Santa Claus, corté estas piezas que muestro a continuación, y enrollé lo que serían las mano en color beige, envolví con el color rojo y al finalizar una tira de blanco escarchado.

Santa Claus is a character that is always present in our Christmas. We always have Father Christmas or Santa Claus in mind, and that image is part of many moments of our Christmases as children, or of our children now, since we are the ones behind all the magic.
