Hello, dear friends who love crafts. Soon we will be celebrating Mother's Day and I will not talk about a specific day, since it is not the same day for all countries, so let's think of May as the month to love mom much more.

To celebrate such an important date I wanted to make an embroidery in which with each stitch I will show the love I feel for my mother. I decided to embroider the word mom in English, this is because in the hoop I don't have much space for a bigger word and at the same time I internationalize my creations 😄. But well, as I was telling you, I embroidered the word mom, and the letter O I will replace it with a sunflower, which among its floral meanings is vitality, energy, joy and good vibes, besides being one of my mother's favorite flowers. I hope you like it. Below, I show you the materials needed and the step by step of the creative process.

Hola, queridos amigos amantes de las manualidades. Pronto estaremos celebrando el día de las madres y no hablaré de un día en concreto, ya que no es el mismo día para todos los países, así que pensemos en mayo como el mes de querer mucho más a mamá.

Para celebrar tan importante fecha he querido hacer un bordado en el cual con cada puntada dejaré plasmado el amor que siento por mi madre. Decidí bordar la palabra mamá en inglés, esto se debe a que en el aro no tengo mucho espacio para una palabra más grande y a la vez internacionalizo mis creaciones 😄. Pero bueno, como les contaba, bordé la palabra mamá, y la letra O la remplazaré por un girasol, el cual entre sus significados florales está la vitalidad, la energía, la alegría y las buenas vibraciones, además de ser una de las flores favoritas de mi madre. 🌻Step by step // Paso a paso🌻

The first thing I did was to mark the outline of the embroidery hoop to define the space and draw the design I would embroider on a sheet of paper. Then, with a carbon paper, I transferred the design to the fabric. This is the best way to do the transfer to avoid making mistakes if we draw directly on the fabric. As the drawing is a bit light on the fabric, I went over all the lines with a ballpoint pen to have better visibility and that it would not be erased with the manipulation of the hands.

Lo primero que hice fue marcar el contorno del aro de bordar para definir el espacio y dibujar el diseño que bordaría en una hoja de papel. Luego, con un papel carbón, transferí el diseño a la tela. Esta es la mejor forma de hacer la transferencia para evitar cometer errores si dibujamos directamente en la tela. Como el dibujo que da un poco claro en la tela, repase todas las líneas con un bolígrafo para tener mejor visibilidad y que no se fuera a borrar con la manipulación de las manos.

I started embroidering with black thread and then with red. I decided to make the letters in two different shades to make it look more colorful. To fill in the inside of the letters, since they were a bit big, I used the magic needle to make it much easier and faster.

Comencé bordando con el hilo negro y luego con el rojo. Decidí hacer las letras de dos tonos diferentes para que se viera más colorido. Para rellenar el interior de las letras, ya que estaban un poco grandes, utilicé la aguja mágica para hacerlo mucho más fácil y rápido.

With yellow and brown thread, I began to stuff the sunflower. My mother loves this flower. First, I made some stitches with the hand needle where the petals start to come out, from the center outwards, some long and some short. These would be like sparkles, since the petals would be kind of shaded. Then, I filled in the rest of the flower with the yellow thread, always making the stitches in the same direction, outwards.

Con hilo de color amarillo y marrón, comencé a rellenar el girasol. Esta flor le encanta a mi madre. Primeramente, hice unas puntadas con la aguja de mano donde comienzan a salir los pétalos, desde el centro hacia afuera, unas largas y otras cortas. Estos serían como unos destellos, ya que los pétalos serían como matizados. Luego, rellené el resto de la flor con el hilo amarillo, siempre haciendo las puntadas en la misma dirección, hacia afuera.

With the same shade of brown thread, I began to fill in the center of the sunflower, and to give it a different texture, I did it with the French knot. I started all around the edge, one after the other, leaving about 3 mm of separation until I filled the whole circle completely. For all the embroidery so far I always used the thread with the 6 strands. Then, with a darker brown tone, I embroidered the phrase I love you..., for this I used only 3 strands of thread to make the letters thinner and the back stitch, which allows us to make the curves more easily, since they are small stitches, we can give it the shape we want.

Con el mismo tono de hilo marrón, comencé a rellenar el centro del girasol, y para que tuviera otra textura, lo hice haciéndolo con el nudo francés. Empecé por todo el borde, uno a continuación del otro, dejando aproximadamente unos 3 mm de separación hasta rellenar todo el círculo completamente. Para todo el bordado hasta ahora siempre usé el hilo con las 6 hebras. Luego, con un tono marrón más oscuro, bordé la frase I love you…, para ello sí utilicé solo 3 hebras de hilo para que quedaran más finas las letras y la puntada paso atrás, la cual permite hacer las curvas con más facilidad, ya que al ser puntadas pequeñas, podemos darle la forma que deseamos.
